VW 505.00 motor oils have been produced since 1997. It was one of the first specifications of the Volkswagen Group, and is now obsolete. These lubricants contain at least 0.08% of phosphorus while their evaporation properties should be no more than 13–15% depending on the viscosity class.

• VW 505.00 motor oils are used on models of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Škoda produced before August 1999.
• These lubricants are suitable for all diesel and turbo-diesel engines, excluding TDI engines equipped with unit injectors. These oils are not compatible with particulate filters.
• VW 505.00 motor oils have standard replacement intervals and withstand about 15,000 kilometres of mileage in engines produced from 1997 to 1999. In older engines, lubricant should be replaced every 7,500 km.
