SEAT 127
SEAT 127 models were being produced from 1972 to 1982. There were two generations of the model and two restylings in the market. The cars’ production was set in Spain.
SEAT 127 I generation
The official presentation of the first generation of SEAT 127 took place in April, 1971, on the Lanserote island, Spain. The car went on sale in 1972 after demonstration at the Barcelona Motor Show. The model was the license copy of the Fiat 127 model. The angular body, rectangular headlights, thin chromeplated bumpers and massive wheel arches looked stylish and modern at the time of the release of the car. The window-sill line sharply rose up at the rear part of the car thus making the exterior of the car similar to the sporty coupe. The car interior was rather spacious, and the dashboard was simple and practical.
Initially the SEAT 127 cars were presented in a body of a two-door hatchback. In 1973 the three-door hatchback was manufactured — it was possible to fold up the back of rear seats, that allowed to increase the luggage compartment capacity as much as possible. Cars of the first generation were being produced till 1974.
SEAT 127 I generation restyling
In 1974 there was a restyled modification of SEAT 127 model. The radiator grill and a company logo plate were redesigned. Front turn indicators became yellow-coloured. Minor changes concerned an interior. In the same year the four-door SEAT 127 hatchback was released.
SEAT 127 II generation
The second-generation cars were being produced from 1977 to 1982. Producers improved technical characteristics and updated the design of the car. The chromeplated bumpers were replaced by plastic ones. The radiator grill with horizontal edges was decorated with the chromeplated strap. The company logo plate was moved from the center of a radiator grill to the left bottom corner. Turn indicators were integrated into the front bumper. In some modifications the body of the model was decorated with black moldings. The size of rear side windows was increased that allowed to improve a visibility.
The interior was changed greatly. The quality of finishing materials was improved, there were pins for loudspeakers and radio. Models of the second generation had more comfortable seats. Expensive modifications had a velour upholstery of seats and door panels.
SEAT 127 II generation restyling
Restyling of the second generation of SEAT 127 model was took place in 1980. Minor changes concerned a design of headlights, radiator grill and bumpers. The five-door hatchback was also offered in the range of bodies.
