Children's Intensive Emotional and Behavioral Services

If your child's behavioral, emotional and social needs significantly influence their ability to learn and participate constructively in their home, school or community, their school, pediatrician, mental health expert or Child Protective Services may refer them to Children's Intensive Emotional and Behavioral Services (CIEBS) at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Our programs are designed to meet the varying needs of each child and family.
How we serve you
Children's Intensive Emotional and Behavioral Services (CIEBS) includes two separate but integrated programs that provide comprehensive psychiatric partial hospital services in a trauma-informed, behaviorally based therapeutic setting for children ages 5-13 years old in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean counties.
Conditions we treat
Children who may benefit from this program have often faced significant challenges — including trauma, behavioral and emotional difficulties and psychiatric symptoms — that have impacted their development and ability to thrive at home, in school and in the community. Many have experienced rejection or exclusion from schools and community programs, and may be at risk for hospitalization, school expulsion or placement in a more restrictive setting such as residential care. They may have diagnoses, including but not limited to:
-
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) -
Oppositional defiant disorder -
Anxiety disorder -
Mood disorders - Developmental delays
-
Prenatal exposure to drugs or alcohol -
Neglect, abuse, and trauma - Aggressive behaviors
- Suicidal/homicidal thoughts and self-injurious behaviors
- Emotional dysregulation related to traumatic life events
