La Canopée - Paris (France)

La Canopée | Les Halles 07/08/2016 19h37

La Canopée as seen from the Western entrance along the Jardin Nelson Mandela. In the background Rue Berger. The latest architectural tourist attraction in Paris for sure is « La Canopée ». Before the 1970's this was the location of « ventre de Paris », the old market halls built to feed the people in Paris and in 1977 the « trou des halles » opened with a huge underground métro and RER station Châtelet Les Halles and shopping mall Forum des Halles. From 2012 to 2016 the huge canopee covered the « trou des halles ». Designed by architect Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti, this 14.5 meters high canopée opened in 2016.
