On the subject the the "Great furry artists."
General | Posted 16 years agoA parable.
A photographer, an oil painter, and a cave man who drew with charcoal on his cave walls, all lived near one another, and would oftentimes come to meet and discuss their respective arts.
The oil painter would show his work and say "I can do this, and I have these skills, and it lets me produce images thus."
The photographer would say to the painter "You do excellent work, my friend. It is very nice indeed. Few have your discipline and skill."
Then, the photographer would show his work and say "I can do this, and I have these skills, and it lets me produce images thus."
To which, the caveman would reply, "OoohWOW! You do good job! Me like! Not many do good stuffs like you!"
The oil painter would then ask the cave man, "Friend, what have you done lately? Shall we venture to your cave to see?" And it was readily decided and agreed that they should.
"See, I draw Grugh kill dinosaur," explains the caveman. "Note detail and texture in dino scales! Oh, wait, that just lumpy wall."
The photographer and the oil painter, nonetheless, were impressed and respectful of the caveman's drawings. Said they, of one accord, "Grugh, you do wonderful drawings! Few have your discipline and skill."
One day, a newcomer came to the artists' meeting, and said, "I bring you my hand-colored photograph. I have developed my skills to this point."
The artists replied "Welcome, friend, you have done well. Seek always to improve. Let us lend you our knowledge, and we will do what we can to help you excel." Even Grugh, the cave man, was able to lend insight and wisdom. After all, some papers are textured, and present challenges similar to lumpy cave walls.
The newcomer took the wisdom of his teachers, and went out, and excelled. The world was better for the beauty of his work.
Another newcomer came to the artists' meeting, and showed his work. "I have done this, is it not wonderful? Am I not the greatest artist who ever lived? Look! and marvel!"
The three artists looked, and said "Welcome, friend, you have done well. Seek always to improve. Let us le--"
"What?!" cried the newcomer. "Improve? What do you think you can possibly teach me?! I am Fabulous! You are SOOO Snobs! Purists! Lame-o's!" And then he departed, but weekly came back to revile the artists who sought only to help him.
The oil painter remarked: "How sad. He has many tools... if only he would listen to us, then he might learn, and his work could exceed all which was done before, even as our other student's has."
The photographer agreed: "Yes, if he would but listen. But, alas, we should not waste our breath, for he cannot be convinced."
Even Grugh, the caveman, was disgusted with this newcomer's behavior. "Like tick in my armpit!" he cried. "He come back, Grugh bash him with club!"
One day, Grugh did indeed become enraged, and bashing-with-club ensued. Sadly, the artists were quick to find, new technologies in manufacturing of the newcomer's medium had made it plentiful, and many who shared his attitude were taking up the "art." Weekly, more and more of them were visiting the artists' meetings. No amount of gentle suggestion could sway their attitudes, nor could any amount of bashing-with-club keep them at bay.
The artists grew weary, and the newcomers overtook them, flooding the world with mediocre works, obscuring the value of the true art, and keeping the knowledge and wisdom of experienced artists from those who, like the first student, were willing to learn.

Steam Punk Furries?
General | Posted 16 years agoRight. So when I went to our weekly fur meet in Madison almost 4 or 5 months back and some random new guy was there claiming to wanting to put together a con in Madison. I thought it was either some elaborate joke, or someone who had no idea what it takes to put a con together.
About 4 months later I can actually see this working. I found that the Chairmen has been running Sci-Fi and animation cons since the 80's. So he has a bit of experience.
Granted this is going to be something new. Esp considering that this con will be have Furrys, Steampunkers, and Anime nerds all in one building.
At the moment I am trying to get more furries interested in this con. All the ones in the local area and Milwaukee shall be attending. But I'm hoping to get more from the surrounding states. Or even better. From anywhere.
http://nakamacon.com/
Granted the site doesn't look to furry. But if we can draw more furrys to it we can gear it towards furry and steampunk.
So if your in the Chicago land or anywhere else in the Midwest region. I'd suggest you look into it.

Odd Places
General | Posted 17 years agoRight. So with the combined powers of Wiki and Google earth I have found numerous places I'd like to visit at some point during my life.
What are some atypical places that others would like to visit?

General | Posted 18 years agoJust when I got my artistic mood going. And the ability to draw/color... I can't find my stylus. If I can't find that thing soon I'm going to have to ebay one again. Which means no pic from me for a while.
No Subject

SCIENCE
General | Posted 18 years agoRight, so I came up with a scientific hypothesis yesterday while driving. And I shall conduct it here. And you will all be my guinea pigs.

General | Posted 18 years agoRight. Bored and need to hear some random ideas. For I feel artistic and rather uninventive. Post random ideas.
Horney yet?
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. So generally with mammals there are 2 times a year that their attentions turn more toward making more mammals. Or the act in which it takes place.
I am already begining to see an increase in the mateing related behaveior.
Even as we speak my roommates neutered male is standing over his spayed female staring at her as he thrusts his hips.
And its not only in the "Lesser" animals that I'm seeing it in. Friends, Co-workers, and roommates (Esp roommates) seem to be feeling the affects of it.
I thought this generally started to take place around February and such.
Have any of you noticed this disturbance in the normal balance?

Not sure who you are. But I love you.
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. So I just got my 26" HD monitor going and have been looking for some High Rez furry pictures to go on it as my background. Failing to find anything on here or anywhere else for that mater that wasn't eater too busy. Or a little less then G-Rated I went to Devaint art... (Waits for someone to start whining...) And I found this person. http://silverdeni.deviantart.com/

MOVIES
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. So this week isn't half bad. But I must say this. If you can spare $7-$9 go see "The Golden Compass." It has to be some of the best CG I've seen yet. I simply wished to stroke them all. And not necessarily in a yiffy way.
Though I wouldn't mind seeing some Rule 34 of it.

Whats up with me?
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. So lately I haven't been feeling myself. Not sick or anything. Its just... Well perhaps its the season. My weekly fur meet just didn't feel... Normal.
Lately I've had a number of emotions that I usually don't feel. Well. Besides my sudden increases in finding someone thats yiffable. Thats a normal occurance.
I have had the odd feeling of wanting to find someone to cuddle. Usually I really don't feel that way. And when you are a hetero in the fur culture its rather hard to find someone to do that with. I don't know what this is. But its kinda scaring me. Cause this isn't me. I'm not usually this... Emo.
I hope this is just a temporary thing.

One crazy weekend
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. So as many of you know this last weekend was MFF. This was my first furcon. And I must say it was a lot less disturbing then I thought it would be. And now I'm even thinking about going to AC. Not to mention going to it was also quite a uplifting, and inspirational experience. Since then I have started drawing again. And even getting some rough ideas down for stories.
Furcons. My anti-norm.
Furcons. My anti-norm.
THIS SCREEN IS BURNING ME!
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. For another update... Uh. Well right now we have half of a TV sitting in the living room looking black and ominous. And the other half just chilling in the kitchen. Getting them that far was not an easy task. And I have the scars to prove it.
Its 65 inches across, and HD. God I can't wait to put some crappy 70's pron in.
Its 65 inches across, and HD. God I can't wait to put some crappy 70's pron in.
Still looking for the easy button.
General | Posted 18 years agoRight. So lets see, where to start...
Well since my last entry stating that I was going to start with a pic. I have thus far got a sketch of it done. Nothing even worth posting.
Main reason behind this is due to the fact that I think I'm just stretching myself too thin. Not monetary wise. Just with things like. Trying to live with a roommate that wants everything her way. Her BF who is rather cool. But doesn't take anything serious. Trying to get myself out and socializing without making an ass of myself. A kitchen and living room that look like hammered ass. And trying to find someone to fuck...
So basically I'm looking for a release. The Bacardi defiantly takes the edge off the day.
If some one actually reply's I will shit a brick.

Suddenly art ideas. Thousands of them.
General | Posted 18 years agoYep thats right. I am actually working on a pic now. A simple one. But a pick none the less.
My muse? My new job and its IV cart "corral".
I know its usually not something to start jumping for joy for when you start a picture. But for over the past 4 or 5 months I have had a lack of motivation to draw anything at all. So I'm pretty fuckin happy.
Hope to finish it soon and post it.

Getting out. Not comeing out.
General | Posted 18 years agoWell. I am finally beginning to get out with other furs a bit. In fact I'm typing this at another fur's place.
It can be odd at times being on of the two existing straight furs in our group. (And possibly the state?) And the other one I'm not always sure about at times... You know who you are.
Other then that it feels kinda refreshing hanging out with people that have the same interests as me.
I really need to learn to play Guitar Hero.
