New Group Submissions Template, a.k.a YES, We're Open Again!
General | Posted 9 years agoI hope you guys empathize.
Into the new group submissions template, I incorporated a third-and-a-half step. This third-and-a-half step involves feedback links. Yes, oh dear—feedback for literary work in a writing community? How unprecedented.
So, to refresh your memory—or if you weren't present for the explanation of why we retired group submissions, inform you—we closeted group submissions temporarily. People got that extra promotion and people even appreciated having their work featured on the group's front page. But the people who wanted feedback specifically would sit waiting patiently for water and sunshine and never receive any.
Oh, to everyone who did offer feedback on group submissions: I appreciate you guys and I encourage you to continue as you are. But for those people—
For those people who wanted feedback specifically—
I incorporated thiis third-and-a-half step.
That's what I decided. If y'all submit for exposure alone, cool. You can skip that third-and-a-half step. I'll tell you what I've got in store for you guys shortly.
So here is the new template:
In a PM to FurWriters,
1. Post a link to your submission.
2. Express that you agree to have the submission posted in our gallery.
3. State whether or not you would like feedback / critique. (We try our best to offer feedback, suggestions and constructive criticisms to as much artists as possible, however, there are some who may not want this kind of service, if so, let us know.) If not, the comment section of your submission shall be closed.
3b. IF YOU WOULD LIKE FEEDBACK / CRITIQUE, post a link to one submission from the group gallery—OR two literary submissions from FurAffinity—that you have given feedback to in the past three months. (Please do your best; construct feedback as you would like it returned to you! Short responses are fine, but don't say simply, "Good job." What did you enjoy about the writer's work?) Feedback links cannot be re-used for future submissions.
5. Nothing you need to do now. Your art shall be submitted to our gallery.
Catch that, guys? If you don't want feedback / critique, the comment section of your submission'll be closed. If you do want feedback / critique, the comment section of your submission'll be open; but you gotta give feedback on 1 group submission or 2 FA submissions to ensure that it'll be open.
If you want to comment on a closed submission, you can still do so via the original link.
I know that third-and-a-half step is still a bit clunky in writing. Let me know what you guys think is good, what ain't, the works!
And... YOU MAY BEGIN SUBMITTING! (I'll check the inbox within the next few busy days.)

xsiniOn Ed and on Group Submissions...
General | Posted 9 years agoFor all that
ed- has contributed to FurWriters, I am grateful. For his maximalist improvisations to the front page description. For reaching out to
fwbrown61, creator of
fawd.v1. For starkly contrasting my thought process and decisions and even my casual lingo with his own indubitably dark and rich self.
ed-, without you steamin' me along I don't think I would've ever gotten this group out of the station. So I appreciate that, bud.
Guys,
ed-'s gone from the fandom. He doesn't express any desire to return. Not sayin' he won't—just sayin' he's on a little pilgrimage of his own right now. So I'm afraid to say the raven's taken flight, and you're stuck with this boring old dragon. For now.
Which means... *dundadun-dundadun-dunnnnnnnnnnn...*
What I said about consulting my partner in crime about bringing group submissions back? Naw mufucka. I consulted myself.
GROUP SUBMISSIONS ARE BACK!
As soon as I update the template. And when I do, a new journal'll fire up.

xsini'Lo!
General | Posted 9 years agoAs short as the above title, this journal's just a head's up. I'm considering bringing back submissions. I want to improve the submission system by incorporating feedback links, similar to those in the previous feed4feed journals.
Not gonna unravel too much just yet. I must first consult my second half... (Ed) ^.=.~
p.s. Spunk & Bite by Arthur Plotnik is a really neat book on writing, and if you haven't read it already, get your paws on a copy!

xsiniThree Helpful Books for Writers:
General | Posted 10 years agoA journal about books! Yay!
I have not opened many "writing how-to" books. The ones I have are usually set back on the shelf after a skimming because, well, I prefer the actual act of writing to "reading how to write". But there are good books on writing out there, no doubt. There are three books I can say have helped me.
The first deals with writer's block. The second addresses style & grammar. The third helps you to write a "damn good novel".
The Sound of Paper by Julia Cameron: If you're totally dazed and confused as a writer and try to take steps in your dancing shoes but just step over your own feet like a doltz, consider this. Cameron gives you these writing... exercises. She ties them into her own life w/ some prosy stuff which is actually relevant. It's cool. A bit unconventional, but cool. MAY or MAY not get you out of a rut. (Recommend? 7/10)
The Elements of Style: 4th Edition by William Strunk JR. and E. B. White: When I was young I hated grammar. That shit was like Satan. Now I'm older and I appreciate language and the way language is formed, and I can say I absolutely 100% recommend this book to people who want to brush up on grammar & make more consistent their style. This shit comes in a pocket size, okay? Literally. Stuff it in your denims. I did that. I keep it in my backpack now, but I did that. This book covers the basics, rules of usage, composition, misused words, style, has a glossary... and it still fits in your jeans! (Recommend? 10/10)
How to Write a Damn Good Novel by James N. Frey: Again, this covers a lot. You learn the anatomy of the story, the parts of the story, the functions of the story, the rhythm of that story's heart... and so on. Only twice as thick as the pocket grammar book. Frey can be intimidating to the people who don't plan their stories as much (he's obsessive-compulsive about knowing characters & probably knows the 5th grade teachers of all his main characters). But this is quality material that even us writers less guided by blueprints can gain from. (Recommend? 9/10)
If any of you guys are having a block, want to brush up on your style & grammar, or are writing a story, maybe check one of these bad boys out! If not, cool. Live your life.

Red's Anthology for Furry Stories
General | Posted 10 years ago* Working title, since I'm not sure of what Red'll be calling this project.
Okay, with that in mind, what is Red's Anthology for Furry Stories*?
creenative-redfox shall be creating an anthology which—you guessed it—shall include the stories of furry writers. The anthology shall have about 70+ furry characters (mostly anthros). Tycho says it'll have all sorts of genres, as well. "Action/adventure, romance, science-fiction, magic, violence, mystery, all kinds of things." These stories will have biblical themes, like angels and demons, good v.s. evil, etc.
This is not a journal to sign you up for such an anthology. This is a journal to advertise said anthology.
But if you are interested, you can say so here! Red wants to see who is interested in being in the anthology. You may also personally message him.
TL;DR version: ANTHOLOGY! Who's interested to be in it? Express interest HERE or talk to Red personally.
Thanks

General | Posted 10 years agoThis is the third Weekly Feed4Feed Journal!
Question: What the hell is a Weekly Feed4Feed Journal?!
In Feed4Feed, you give feedback to another writer in return for their own feedback. It's like karma: what goes around comes around. The Weekly Feed4Feed Journal system engages writers with other writers, and inspires a train-of-thought meant to help them critique their own work later on: what do I like about so-and-so's story? Why do I like that about so-and-so's story? What can be improved in so-and-so's story?
Here's how it works:
Flow Chart:
1.commenter << 2. replier << 3. commenter
Step by Step:
1. COMMENTER: Post a link to any of your stories/prose/poetry in the comments below. Include a rating (general/mature/adult) and briefly describe the work (themes/fetishes/keywords).
2. REPLIER: Post a link to any of your stories/prose/poetry in a reply to the commenter. Agree to Feed4Feed with the commenter.
3. COMMENTER: Agree to Feed4Feed with the replier.
EXAMPLE:
1. COMMENTER: "Yo! Anyone want to check out my vore story? It has a general rating, and has humans and dragons in it. (STORY LINK)"
2. REPLIER: "For sure I'll read it! Check out my prose about how much I hate vore stories? (PROSE LINK) It has an adult rating."
3. COMMENTER: "Sure thing bud!"

Stories you should read! (Your Weekly Promotional Journal)
General | Posted 10 years agoYour dear wordmeister speaking,
ed-
This Friday beckons its twilight with our first Promotional Journal, and in this journal you will fine two stories submitted.
Should you want your own works to be considered for next week's Promotional Journal, do not hesitate to consult this journal for more information: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7180889/
But now, on to the stories themselves:
1.Should you find yourself in search of a story embroidered by fantasy lore, where characters live in worlds conceived by the deepest crevices of imagination, where women gilt with strong personalities weave their stories, then consider the work of
MG-Trazor "The Rising Sun"
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16662332/
2.Or if you find yourself domineered by animalistic urges and temptations known only to the luscious chamber of Asmodeian carnal gardens, where your lust is patron to most gratifying services, then do check up
Silver2075 's story,
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17917524/ A story that embarks you upon a pleasuring journey to the deepest corners of Stockholm...not the city, mind you.
(Should the obvious still be eluded from your precarious eyes, this is adult-rated, indeed)

Promotional Journal Update
General | Posted 10 years agoThis is your dear raven
ed- speaking,
Remember that we have now pressed for a new form of promoting literary works, and that is through promotional journals.
Unfortunately, the one supposed to be posted this Friday did not make it online as my beloved dog chewed and tore my router cable, depriving me of internet for the entirety of my weekend.
But have no fear, the Promotional Journal will be posted THIS upcoming Friday.
And that only means that you, my beloved writers, have the chance to benefit from it! So if you have any works that you want to be promoted, do send a note with the following criteria:
1. Write a PM with the subject “Story/Poem Submission”
2. In that PM, you will include a link to your story
3. And below it, a phrase detailing why you think your work deserves to be featured
4. Also provide details pertaining to your story that you would also like to see featured alongside it, in the journal.
Further info: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7180889/
Have a prosperous day!
Yours faithfully,
Eduard

ed-FurWriters Announcement: New Submission Systems, Tmi Tuesday
General | Posted 10 years agoGood evening, my dearest and most amiable gentlemen and madams who so eloquently profess their passion for the written word through their endless manifestations of prodigious narratives and succulent poetry, this is your favourite raven speaking,
ed-
This journal has been made as I, alongside the group’s owner,
xSini , have some announcements to make concerning changes in the group’s administration and policy.
1. Concerning Submissions:
It has come to our attention that the current way of handling submissions is hectic and time-consuming, and it did not yield the amount of interaction between writers and readers as much as it hoped it would.
That is why we would like to experiment with a new way of promoting literary masterpieces: Through journals.
At the start of every weekend, we will read through all the submissions requests and select 9 lucky literary works, from 9 lucky authors to be featured in our promotional journal. We would like to experiment whether this would prove more efficient than the existing policy, and furthermore, the certain advantage that it offers is that comments, criticism, and favourites will be directly posted under the original submission.
To be considered for such a weekly journal, you, as the writer must do the following:
1. Write a PM with the subject “Story/Poem Submission”
2. In that PM, you will include a link to your story
3. And below it, a phrase detailing why you think your work deserves to be featured
4. Also provide details pertaining to your story that you would also like to see featured alongside it, in the journal.
Details like 2-3 tags, the theme, the setting, and maybe whatever inspired you.
Note: Should you be accepted for a promotional journal that means that you cannot apply to the subsequent promotional journal. That means if you have been featured in the promotional journal on 7th May, that means that you cannot apply for the promotional journal that is next week, on the 14th of May, but you can apply the week after ( at least two weeks after the first journal you were featured)
If your work didn’t make out in a promotional journal, you can apply again for the next week.
2. Ask Us Anything TMI Tuesday Journal
On this Tuesday (tomorrow) we would like to host an “Ask Us Anything TMI Tuesday” Journal where we will answer any questions you may have regarding literature, writing, or anything else you can think of! So if you want to participated, then prepare your questions, and contribute to the fun!
Either tag me (
ed- ) or Sini if you want to address the question to someone specific of the two of us, or leave it blank, without a tag, and we may both answer : )
Now, I shall leave this journal to my dearest friend Sini so that he may continue with a special announcement he will have to make:
Thank you Ed.
xsini here!
Hello Fur Writers!
It's come to our attention that the literary works submitted through the current “submissions system” including the template isn't as effective as we wanted it to be. Submissions seldom receive feedback; and, due to the swelling number of members per day, it's impractical for me and Ed to continue posting the works of everyone one by one! I'll weep when this system is gone. There are a lot of features about it I liked. Alas. Old inventions make way for the new ones—new ones which are designed, and hoped, to improve the way we feature your work!
Ed has presented to you already the Weekly Journal Submission system. The second system, I'd like to present to you, is what I am coining the Weekly Feed4Feed Journal system.
Question: What the hell is a Weekly Feed4Feed Journal system?!
Each Saturday, a Feed4Feed journal shall be posted. Here's how it's gonna work:
In the journal, 1. a commenter will post a link to any of their stories/prose/poetry; then 2. a replier will respond to the commenter with a link to any of their stories/prose/poetry; then 3. the commenter MUST respond to, and agree to, Feed4Feed with the replier. I will reiterate that in a flow chart, and also a step-by-step sequence.
Flow Chart:
1.commenter << 2. replier << 3. commenter
Step by Step:
1. COMMENTER: Post a link to any of your stories/prose/poetry in the comments below.
2. REPLIER: Post a link to any of your stories/prose/poetry in a reply to the commenter. Agree to Feed4Feed with the commenter.
3. COMMENTER: Agree to Feed4Feed with the replier.
It is my goal that this system will improve both the quality and the quantity of feedback that you wonderful Fur Writers receive. In this way, I hope to make the group a more interactive environment, and improve the overall feedback you guys receive.
It is our goal—Ed's and my own—to help you excel as writers. I can only hope in our endeavor we're successful.
If you have any thoughts, questions, feedback for us about these systems: POST A COMMENT! We'd love to hear how much you love, are unsure of, are skeptical of, or absolutely hate the systems introduced. There may come a time when we submit literary works again—but for now there we've no effective system for it, thus will not. So y'all let us know what'cha think!
Cheers!

ed-This journal has been made as I, alongside the group’s owner,
xSini , have some announcements to make concerning changes in the group’s administration and policy.1.
Either tag me (
ed- ) or Sini if you want to address the question to someone specific of the two of us, or leave it blank, without a tag, and we may both answer : )Now, I shall leave this journal to my dearest friend Sini so that he may continue with a special announcement he will have to make:
Thank you Ed.
xsini here!Hello Fur Writers!
Each Saturday, a Feed4Feed journal shall be posted. Here's how it's gonna work:

General | Posted 10 years agoQ: Who are you?
A: Fur Writers!
---
Q: What are you?
A: Our Furry Sanctuary For All Things Literary™
---
Q: Why are you?
A: (Ed quote) The purpose of this group is to provide writers and artists a haven, a sanctuary which will emancipate themselves and their art. Literary art has been overshadowed by its more visual counterpart, neglecting a lot of good quality stories and poems and generally, rendering a lot of talented writers and poets into obscurity. FurWriters seeks to emancipate the literary artists of FurAffinity and cater them with the merit and recognition they deserve. But we cannot achieve this ordeal on our own, and we also need your assistance. Artists need to support other artists and thus, writers need to support other writers and FurWriters will provide a medium for that. We will provide you with the possibility to submit your art in a gallery which other artists will have easy access to, promoting your art and your talent. We also offer critics, reviews, suggestions and opinions in order to help you hone your talent. (End Ed quote)
Q: Why did you watch me?
A: If you're a writer, have at least one written work, or have at least your artist type set to "Writer", we may watch you. Most likely it's not because we've read through your entire catalog of work but rather because we've found your literary work(s) in the F.A. browser. Our familiarity with you usually comes later; ex: submitting your work to us.
---
Q: Can you check out my [literary work] called [insert title here]?
A: Submit it to the group! We can't always read the mass of literary submissions sent to the shoutbox or any of our (Furwriters, Sini, or Ed) message-boxes. It's best that you submit it to us! That way, we and the group as a whole will see it come up in our boxes and have the opportunity to read it.
---
Q: How do I submit my work to Furwriters?
A: Send a message to Furwriters, Sini, or Ed, and include the following:
1. A link to the submission you'd like to have featured.
2. Does Furwriters have your consent to post said submission? (yes / no)
3. Would you like to be critiqued? (yes / no)
---
Q: Did you receive the note I sent you?
A: Most likely yes. In due time it will be read. Patience, my friend.
P.S. If you don't follow the format, your submission will NOT be submitted! This is because the administrators of Furwriters are cruel and wrathful.

If you have any questions that haven't appeared above, just keep on asking them; eventually they'll end up in our Frequently Asked Questions list. *Nods nods.*

xsiniAttention Furwriters! Submissions Welcome!
General | Posted 10 years agoI know it's been a minute since we last updated our featured submissions. Sorry about that! I'll be a bit more active on here in the coming days.
So! If you'd like to have a work of literature (including prose, poetry, and story), please do not hesitate to message the Furwriters group inbox! Better yet—just spam my user inbox until I respond to you. Sometimes messaging both helps. I find that messaging me (Sini) directly will receive a quicker response; on the other hand, messaging the group will probably ensure I don't forget to post your submission (should it follow the template) or at the very least respond to you.
The submission template is on the main page. For the sake of saving you a click, I'll post them again below.
Send a message to Furwriters, Sini, or Ed with the following:
1. A link to the submission you'd like to have featured.
2. Something saying to us, Yes, we have your permission to post said submission.
3. A statement of whether or not you'd like to be critiqued.
Then you're all set. We'll post it up! Just follow steps 1-3, guys.
On a side note: to all those who messaged us 2+ months ago and haven't received responses even if you used the template correctly: message us again. This is to weed out all the old messages and determine who is still interested in having their work featured.
Until next time,
xsini

Attention: Opportunity to rise!
General | Posted 11 years agoGreetings, fellow writers!
ed- delivering the mellifluous and persuasive.
I bring forth to you an opportunity that should not pass by your ears and eyes ignored and untouched for this is an opportunity worthy of your apprehension!
To be concise, Weasel Press is interested in publishing literary works focused upon the subject of anthropomorphism/furry.
Should your interest be aroused, do consult the quote below:
Basic Guidelines:
-Deadline May 1, 2015
-5,000-10,000 words max, if you need more space than this, please let me know and I’ll see if we can work it out.
-Ratings PG-R accepted
-Payment: $20 per accepted story
-Send all submissions in the form of an attachment to systmaticwzl[at]gmail.com
-Include in your email: Name (pen name is fine), Story Title, Story Synopsis, Author Biography, and Word Count
-Files Accepted: DOC, DOCX
-Times New Roman, 12pt Font
Weasel Press is releasing a new furry anthology called Typewriter Emergencies and it is currently calling for intense psychological dramas in which characters have to overcome some harsh realities. I’m looking for dark and existential fiction focusing around the theme of “These Things Shall Pass/It’s a mad world out there.” There’s a wealth of things that fit but some examples of what I’m looking for in this anthology would be Bullying, Sexuality, domestic violence, drug abuse, poverty/homelessness, anxiety. We’re looking for situations that would cause intense psychological strife.
We’re accepting ratings PG-R. Adult and Sexual themes are allowed, however excessive gore and sex is not. Pretty much, if it’s related or crucial to your story then it is fine. If it has nothing to do with your story then it’s probably not going to be accepted.
Authors accepted into Typewriter Emergencies will be paid a flat rate of $20 for their story and will receive a free copy of the anthology when it is released. Payments will be made through paypal (Weasel Press will pay the fees for using paypal, if any). If another method is needed, it will need to be discussed through email. Multiple submissions are accepted, however it is asked that you keep it under 3 submissions. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but the author is required to inform us if it has been accepted elsewhere. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but the author is required to inform us if it has been accepted elsewhere. Submissions must not contain any copyrighted characters that the author does not hold the copyright to. Any submissions featuring minors in sexual situations will be rejected.
This is the first “furry” anthology I’m doing. If things go well I hope to do another with a different theme.
What rights are we asking for? We are asking for exclusive publication rights for print and ebook purposes for a period of one year from the time of publication date. After the one year period we ask for Non-Exclusive publication rights in perpetuity.

Friday Prompt 30.01.2015
General | Posted 11 years agoSaturday Prompt 24.01.2015 The beginning to a new venture
General | Posted 11 years agoBonsoir, monsieurs et madames, Eduard reporting in from the darkest chasms of a writer's intellectual ennui as I linger through this lackadaisical evening.
Thanks to your positive comments from the past journal, it has been decided that we should experiment with the ideas of "prompts", therefore, today shall be the day of the first Furwriters prompt!
I also figured the weekend would be a most convenient period for prompts, as it would be a pity to have such an artistic opportunity forfeited by the responsibilities of a job or studying.
To check this prompt, go to our tumblr page. Here is a link: http://furwriters.tumblr.com/post/1.....mpt-24-01-2015
I wish you the best of fortune! May you have entertainment fiddling with the ideas that prompt may give you.
Have a great evening!
Yours faithfully,

ed-Prompts: Your opinion of them?
General | Posted 11 years agoGood day, my dearest noble individuals furred, scaled, feathered or otherwise who dabble inside the rewarding and intransigently empowering art of literature. How are you fairing upon the ferocious tides of fate today?
My name is Eduard, the ever elegant raven you may undoubtedly know as the administrator of this exquisite and overtly finespun page and I have an inquiry for you:
"What is your opinion of prompts?"
I think that is self-explanatory. I am most curious in finding out what would your opinion of them be: Of literary prompts.
If you do not know what they are, then, allow me the privilege of enlightening you: A "Prompt" is an instance where you are given an idea (A word, a line, a paragraph, a sentence, an image) and you create a story out of it. Simple, is it not?
Furthermore...
"What would you think of Furwriters hosting such prompts in an attempt to further facilitate and encourage literature around here?"
That is all. I bid you a fine and prosperous day.
Au revoir!
Yours faithfully,

ed- have agreed in the past: It's courteous that you follow the instructions provided from the template in our page's description.
* Finding works without the provided links is tedious. I'm no fisherman. I'd rather not go fishing 10 pages back into a gallery to find the story/poem/etc to be submitted.
* Understand that when you send us multiple stories/poems in one message, only one of them is going to be uploaded (see Note in our page description).
* It's okay if you want to tell us about your story, but please do not neglect instruction.
This is simple my dudes and dudettes. I'd LOVE to see your work in the gallery . . . but if you ain't got time fo' the template, we ain't got time fo' you.
Still XOXO. I love you guys.
Just re-message us in template format.
TL;DR? I'll be darned.
P.S. If you've messaged us in the last 18 days and haven't had your work submitted yet, you are fine, given you used this template. Sini is currently checking messages like a good dragon.
