xsiniWhat Lies Beyond: a Novel by Terotrous
General | Posted 11 years ago
Terotrous recently notified me of his finished novel, What Lies Beyond, an adventure story of pirates and kraken and treasure and whatnot. I'm only on the 2nd chapter myself, but the novel is comprised of a whopping 49 chapters, plus an epilogue.
It blows my mind—because Terotrous has put a whole lotta work into this book that hasn't been acknowledged. Dude's got the pictures on lock. Dude's created a site to showcase it. But his individuals chapters on FurAffinity haven't gotten feedback, and receive little to no views.
If you want to read it here, you can read it here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11565633/
If you want to read it on his website (where the pictures haven't been shrunken), check out this link:
http://whatliesbeyondnovel.blogspot.....-archives.html
Check it out. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't.
All I ask is: Check out the first chapter. Terotrous a.k.a. Adam King . . . putting way too much work in for YALL NOT TO SEE IT!!!
xsiniYou Guys.
General | Posted 11 years agoIt's a preference of mine personally that you send your submission templates to the FurWriters inbox, rather than my own. It helps me organize; and this is where I look when I want to know which submissions to upload!
Still, a few of you wait. I've not forgotten about you. Thanks for endeavoring.
New journal! Woo!
(P.S. If you've, however, a question or concern related to the FurWriters group, feel free to send a message directly to me!)

xsini::A moment of pardon on my behalf::
General | Posted 11 years agoI must confess that during the course of these last days there was a perceptible and undoubtedly repugnant absence from my behalf which concluded in a moment of decreased ( yet, I assure you, temporary ) efficiency.
I would personally like to excuse myself and beg the pardon of each and every one of you, my dearest and most amiable members of this exquisite and overtly finespun group. My real life was rather hectic these days as I had to divert my attention to a number of pressing responsibilities.
However, this is to change now. And that being said, I will return to my normal schedule where FurWriters figures as one of the top most priorities. I assure you that I will increase the efficiency tenfold and there will be no room allowed for disappointments on my behalf.
I would hereby like to request of you to resend any PMs or Requests that haven't been answered or tended to. That will allow me to get back to the things I couldn't get to at that time more effectively.
Again, I apologize for this inconvenience. I wish I could have announced it here before time but circumstances made it so that this change of events came unexpectedly.
Yours faithfully,
ed-

ed-D'you have any favorite authors / favorite books?
General | Posted 11 years agoTil I discovered The Road and read my first novel of Cormac McCarthy's I thought I was absolutely out of my fucking mind; the way I wrote. McCarthy's simplicity. His fluidity. His straightforward writing approach . . . It clicked with me. I love his characters, and his dialogue, and if he hasn't influenced me he's granted me the inspiration to continue writing on the very days I lose focus or can't write at the very least.
The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway is a favorite of mine.
edit: HUUUUUUUGE fan of His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (thanks for reminding me, Slingblade. lol)
At the moment I'm reading Eldest, the second book of the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini. Recommended if you're into fantasy.
. . .
Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books? If anyone has recommendations for a good book, I'm all ears.

xsini::Fundraiser for Weasels::
General | Posted 11 years agoDare I say that I find it indubitable that your cognizant entrails have their visceral gears oiled and electrified by a thousand neuronal discharges rendering your memory in such a top-notch condition that you will undoubtedly remember the following journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5682136/
But in case of a certain atrocious misfortune which prevents you from scrounging the deepest, unfathomable corners of your mind ( most likely because you haven't seen it before...hopefully ) then I strongly suggest you allow your ocular appendages to be slurped inside the bowels of that link before tilting your sight downwards so that you may witness the following paragraphs...
Weasel Press is an exquisite and overtly finespun independent publisher service which aims to promote literary talent to the best of its capabilities by including poems and prose in chapbooks, publishing novels and all kinds of benevolent ordeals destined to cater the writer with the endearing warmth of the spotlight he so much deserves.
However, it is a great misfortune that in the contemporary world of today, one cannot achieve such benevolent endeavours without aiding monetary resources, which is why Weasel Press finds itself in need of a fund raiser.
It is a well known fact that every manifestation of assistance shall be greatly appreciated, endeared and even rewarded.
So, if you find your heart to be aroused by good deeds, or if it lecherous craves to be penetrated by the fecundating drills of compassion, then I would suggest to consider offering aid to this Weasel Press whose goal is none other but to promote literary talent and assist writers in any way possible.
The following is a quote from the Weasel Press founder:
Weasel Press is an independent publisher, seeking to promote and give a voice to dedicated authors and dreamers; to help give the underground a kick start. We’re still figuring things out but we have quite a few releases coming soon! Weasel Press has a Beat Generation Mentality. We hitch for words and we've found that it works. Our experiences have led us to some of the greatest authors around, and we are dedicated to finding more.
Our first release was a couple years ago. Vagabonds: Anthology of the Mad Ones came out in August of 2012 and it has been growing ever since. We’ve pushed out three solid issues and will be releasing a fourth this coming summer! We started this fundraiser to keep ourselves on the search for the mad ones, artists who treat their craft like a religion. The funds raised will go towards costs to keep the press running. Things such as printing, promotion, website costs, public events, contests, graphic design artists, anything and everything!
If Financing isn’t an option we completely understand. Email us at systmaticwzl[at]gmail.com to find other ways you can help out. Weasel Press is always on the lookout for other aspects such as printing, graphic design, binders, typesetters, etc. Or you can simply spread the word!
We accept donations at our Go Fund Me page or at our paypal!
http://www.gofundme.com/8i0g34 hitchingpoets[at]hotmail.com (paypal!)
That is all for today.
Have a good day and please, do keep up the good work.

xsini::Weasel Press - A Writer's Opportunity::
General | Posted 11 years agoWell hello there, my dearest darlings and astute individuals who so reverently regard themselves as literary artists of this exquisite and overtly finespun fandom. Ed is here and I bring forth a message that may interest all of you.
I came forth today in order to present you a website called "Weasel Press" a website bent on publishing furry literary art and who is eager to provide opportunities for all potential furry writers.
They even accept submissions and they would be glad to advertise and support promising artists and their works.
Here is a quote from the original founder of Weasel Press, who is named
systematicweasel :
"Hiya!
Weasel Press is looking for Poetry Chapbooks. We have a Beat Generation mentality; essentially we look for gritty, experimental, existential material. We want material that immerses us, that throws us into the lines. To get a better feel for the poetry we’ve looked at in the past, take a look at our Vagabonds: Anthology of the Mad Ones. Weasel Press has been releasing the anthology for a few years now and we’re excited for its 4th release this summer!
http://www.vagabondsink.com
Send your submissions to our email address: systmaticwzl[at]gmail.com Your email should include:
-Name-Short Biography (about a paragraph, talk about yourself, list your previous publications if you have any. Just give us some information so we can get to know you better as an author!)
-The focus of your work or a description of your chapbook (themes, if the poetry has been published elsewhere, etc).
-the manuscript in the attachment of the email. Manuscripts should be no more than 30 pages. Chapbooks will be printed in a smaller size (most of the time we print on a 4x6 booklet size for smaller publications). All poems must be in the same word document, one poem per page in a legible font and size.
Our response time is around a month depending on the amount of submissions we receive. Got a chapbook itching to get out? Just shoot us an email, we'd love to hear from you!"
PS: Only .doc and .docx file extensions are acceptable, so as to provide an efficient and easier administration of the files
Should you need additional info, here are a few helpful links as well as the website in question and the founder's page:

ed-::The FAWD Needs Coders::
General | Posted 11 years agoTaking into consideration the fact that the new engine ( or whatever gimmick or occult relic bewitched with the darkest of satanic magick ) which will benefit FurAffinity is getting closer and closer, the FAWD owner wants to take some precaution measures and revision the coding of the FAWD so that it won't be ruined by a new and possibly incompatible engine.
Therefore, as the FAWD is a relic of benevolence that helps all the literary artists of FA, I took it upon myself to advertise so that anyone of you who either has programming skills or knows a person who has programming skills, can provide some help, should you want of course.
More information can be found here:

Should you need more information, I am sure
fwbrown61 won't hesitate in answering any and all questions as well as accepting your assistance.
Thank you very much for your attention!
Sidenote: The contest idea is still shaping and it's getting closer and closer, however, our plans and intentions are currently castrated by our desperate need for judges so that we will have a secured pool of manpower before the contest begins. We want to make this contest as enjoyable as possible, mistakes and errors are unacceptable on our behalf.
So, if you think you have what it takes to be a good judge, visit this: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5645948/
Thank you!

ed-::Group Submission Feedback::
General | Posted 11 years agoTo the members of FurWriters: I thank you for being a part of the community and I cannot emphasize my gratitude enough.
We want to give post EVERYONE'S submissions. We want to give feedback to EVERYONE, regardless of what they write about or how long their written piece may be. But it has become difficult for me and Ed alone to critique the work of each and every one of you. This has not become easier with the rate of growth the group has undergone in the past couple weeks ...
If you, the member, could help us out; read a submission in our gallery; give the writer of that submission your input - even if it's one or two sentences! - it would be greatly appreciated. If every member of Furwriters took the time to read one submission in our gallery and share their thought, that would be more than enough. We'd like to create a community of writers who are connected and acquainted with one another. But our writers have to help us - and help themselves - by contributing. Give feedback to our members and we will make it our priority to return that feedback to you.
Double thanks!

::Contest Idea 2.0 Update // And other stuff::
General | Posted 11 years agoBonjour, everyone, Ed is here.
Dare I say that with that flooding influx of regurgitated enthusiasm that you, dearest writers, have expulsed over the last journal, I cannot help but find myself assured that a contest is exactly something that you deserve, and not only that, but it is also something that will succeed.
Taking all this into consideration, it would be undoubtedly horrid of I not to keep you up to date with the state of the Contest Ideas and what me and
xsini have in mind, right?
Right... So, our ideas are cementing themselves thicker and thicker and basically, we are a few steps away to reward you with this exquisite opportunity to present your artistic talent in the entirety of its splendour.
But first, before any contest begins, we need to assure that we have a respectable number of diligent, punctual and trusted judges who will help us in reviewing the contest entries and decide the winner with meticulous deliberation. Me and xSini have decided that the judges will be chosen by submitting a criteria on the group's journal ( which will be uploaded tomorow ) and any who would present the benevolent initiative of signing up as judges, will answer the criteria and send the answers by PM.
( I would highly recommend the group's PMs so both me and Sini have equal access to them )
This will provide a meritocratic and efficient assessment for the position of judges, composing the judges out of individuals who want to do it out of their own initiative.
It is sensible however, that the judges cannot participate as contestants ( just felt the need of hypocritically spitting the redundant )
Another important commodity which needs to be taken into consideration is time. Yes, time is... unfortunately one of the most important commodities out there but just because we, humans, are the only organic specie on this Earth to give it such an insidious amount of importance. But such attributed importance to this omnipresent entity caresses us with a more efficient organization, therefore, this cannot be condemnable, right?
But I digress... I came forward with the idea that there should be a week time when members will have the opportunity to announce their participation. Then, there will be another two weeks time when participants will have to compose their submissions.
It is understandable that we will not accept stories and/or poems that were submitted before the date of the contest's official announcement and implementation.
Another note: Only entries marked under the "General" filter will be accepted. The reason why we choose so is because accepting other filters will provide a disadvantage for the below-18 members of the FA that would like to participate and it wouldn't be proper to neglect them.
Also, I can also say that the contest will center around a theme, a word, phrase, idea, etc.
However, I my lips are stitched and my innocence is silenced until the day when the contest is up, regarding possible themes and such
It will be the participants' job to expand on it accordingly.
In the future, when FurWriters will stretch its wings and cover more writers and poets, we might do more contests, each of them separated for General, Mature and Adult filters, and even separated Story and Poem contests. Perhaps even hold fan fiction contests?
But such ordeals requires manpower.
Aw, and, do you happen to want to help support the writers and poets of FA and help the group FurWriters achieve its goals of emancipating literary talent from obscurity? Simply add ;iconFurWriters: ( replace the " ; " with " : " ) on your page and help us spread the word so that your fellow writers and poets will hear about us!
Something worthy to share:
The group FurWriters appreciates and loves all other groups who share the purpose we strive to achieve, that is why, I would like to announce you about the website https://www.furrywritersguild.com and their forum http://www.anthroaquatic.com/forum/ which are part of the
furwritersguild .
Every group who lights a torch that shuns away the darkness that obscures literary talent is a group worthy of appreciation and commendation, I dare say!
That would be all for today. I just felt the need that it is merely courtesy to keep you up to date about this project and assure you that we haven't forgotten neither about it nor you.
I am, most certainly, looking forward to see how this evolves and how many of you will sign up for participation.
Yours faithfully,
ed-

The group FurWriters appreciates and loves all other groups who share the purpose we strive to achieve, that is why, I would like to announce you about the website https://www.furrywritersguild.com and their forum http://www.anthroaquatic.com/forum/ which are part of the
furwritersguild .Every group who lights a torch that shuns away the darkness that obscures literary talent is a group worthy of appreciation and commendation, I dare say!
That would be all for today. I just felt the need that it is merely courtesy to keep you up to date about this project and assure you that we haven't forgotten neither about it nor you.
I am, most certainly, looking forward to see how this evolves and how many of you will sign up for participation.
Yours faithfully,

General | Posted 11 years agoAs stated in the recent journal I forcefully prompted in your notifications like a phallic stake through a witch scarred by the inquisition, me and
xsini have contrived the idea of a literary contest which we would like to hold in the near future.
But before we would present any ideas of actually holding up a contest, I think it would be sensible to consult you, my dearest artists, writers and poets of FurAffinity and ask you if you would be interested in a contest.
The fundamental reason, or purpose of this contest would be giving writers and poets an encouragement and a purpose for which they may write. Think of it as something which combines productivity with entertainment as a contest will provide a proactive environment where you will have fun doing what you know best: erecting walls of harmoniously arranged verbosities that fornicate the minds of readers with alien metaphors dragged from the metaphysical worlds of your imagination.
It will provide you with an opportunity to interact with fellow writers, and bring your talent in the spotlight through a very meritocratic exhibition of skill. The competition will be amicable, of course, we are all friends and individuals following the same purpose, after all.
There will be rewards, of course. There will be. We have already contrived some ideas for potential rewards but at this moment... my lips are stitched and my innocence is silenced and I cannot provide any more info regarding this.
We strive to provide the highest organization possible. You will have judges, themes, score sheets, and all that.
So, now, the wall shattering inquiry: What do you, monsieurs et madames, think?
On another note, I have been notified that the previous colours and font were detrimental and inconvenient as some individuals couldn't read the contents of our page. I have took initiative in changing that, however, I would appreciate if you would give me opinions about the change and how do you find it.
Taking all of this into consideration, I would like to wish all of you a great day.
May prosperity pave your path and may you keep spewing forth art that is a direct testimony of your talent.
Keep up the good work, everyone!

::What are your writing goals?:: // and other stuff
General | Posted 11 years agoDare I say that I exude this apparently baffling and bluntly shaped query as nothing but a curiosity question and an informal form of analysis as I am curious to hear what do you, my dearest monsieurs and madames, connoisseurs of the ink and paper, strive to achieve when you are writing your undoubtedly honey-coated, exquisite and overtly finespun, artistic and literary manifestations?
Indeed, what do you hope to achieve when you write? Or what are your goals? What hills do you plan to conquer and what purpose do you have contoured in your head, besides the one of expressing your thoughts and pleasing whatever reader may lay its eyes upon your work?
As an example ( so I can properly elaborate what I wanted to mean with my question), some individuals, when they erect something from the depths of their minds and place it on the paper, ( or pdf document for the more... technologically capable [ this also begs another inquiry I will tackle you with shortly... ] ) they aim to surprise, first and foremost.
They aim to surprise by engulfing the reader with an aura of suspicions and obscurantism that will, in the end, reveal something unexpected to him. They also wish to dabble in the controversial. They struggle to baffle and sicken the reader in such a way that he will appreciate what they do, thanks to the reason that they dared provide him with a controversial manifestation of an alien idea. They personally wish to achieve the embrace of originality and the avantgarde, by weaving the unexpected.
I happen to be one of those and this is exactly the reason why I personally prefer obscurantism, and to employ mellifluousness and accentuate the apparently trivial. I like subtlety. I also strive for metaphors and puzzles subtly yet harmoniously put inside my works, metaphors and puzzles that will reward you with peculiar and pulchritudinous ideas, messages and references.
In the end, I strive to craft a verbose labyrinthine. A labyrinth of words.
But I digress, I never aimed to be the epicenter of this journal, forgive my insidious derail of this journal.
What do you, dearest writers and poets, strive to achieve with your literary works? This is an innocent curiosity I would very much appreciate if you were so kind as to satiate it.
It is of great and personal interest to me to know what are your goals, besides providing the community with magnificently labored and elaborated tunnels and funnels of words and sentences which are roads for your exquisite ideas.
Furthermore, as I may have noted in the [ ] above, I wanted to ask you: which of you still use paper and ink ( or pencil ) to write your stories and ideas? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of using paper and ink over the computer and vice-versa?
And to end with a Post Scriptum:
The idea of a contest is in continuous elaboration and deliberation. Me and
xSini are contriving ideas to provide for a great experience and greater opportunity for all of you. But my question is: Which of you would be interested in a literary contest?
That would cover all I wanted to share with you today. My utmost sincere appreciation for the support you grant to the group and other writers around here. Through you, fellow literary artists, the writers and poets of FA will receive the merit, support and encouragement they deserve.
Have a good day,

ed-::Ideas For User Submissions!::
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, you guys.
I post the writing of group members.
* Recently I started adding your title, your author name, and the FurWriters logo (on submissions with no original thumbnail), to your submissions.
Why I do this.
Not everyone scrolls over your submission on the home page and sees your artist name. Or the title, even! Some people pass on right by stories and poetry that's really good-- but has no thumbnail-- so they be like "Nah, I'm not reading this." This is for you guys. I wanna get your name out there. I want to get the title of the story known. Maybe a few more people will check out your piece and enjoy it and leave feedback. Speaking of feedback:
* With our most recent submission, Usernamio's, I commented in the description.
Why I do this.
If I critique you or at least respond to you guys, it's an incentive to be involved in the group, right?
Sometimes you might not get critiques or comments from other FA or FurWriter members.
So from now on: You post? You will receive feedback!
See this on how to submit your writing: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5517712/
And I'm open for suggestions. What's working? What isn't? How could I make the group better?
Thanks for reading. As always, keep scribing~
-Sini
