Farewell, Dragoneer
General | Posted a year agoI must say, the news of Dragoneer's passing was a blow I was not expecting to feel.
With so many years in the fandom, I have felt blessed to speak to a number of wonderful individuals via FA, and whilst I perhaps only had fairly limited interactions with Dragoneer, I could always see that he had the fandoms best intent at the forefront of his thoughts.
I would not be the person that I am today without Furaffinity. From the cringe-inducing messages with my first beau, to arranging some weird and wonderful artworks from wonderful commissioners, FA has been at the forefront of my daily life for almost 20 years now. I've met some truly remarkable people through this website, and I have nothing but praise for the legacy that Dragoneer has built.
Especially from his early days as Preyfar, I was surprised and delighted to know that not only did 'neer enjoy supporting the community, but he also gave back with top-quality artwork.
Quiet on here as I now might be, I've grown up alongside the fandom and FA. It's with great pleasure to know that Dragoneer had kept this odd little place ticking over for all of these years.

Art + FWA & Orlando
General | Posted 10 years agoSo... It's been a year and a half since I posted - which seems about right for me!
I'll be booking off a couple of days from work soon to see if I can't get inspired again. First and foremost I think I'll focus on drawing a version of my character that I'm happy with! Then I'll post some suitable porn I'm sure :P
Aside from that, the only other thing of note is that I'll be hitting up FWA this year, and spending a couple of weeks down in Orlando after :) It's been a while since I've been to the US, so I'm looking forward to catching up with folks while I'm out there.

Elliott's Spring Gathering 2014
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, I think that I'm just about recovered from FWA! It was a truly fantastic con, and one I'll be headed back to again next year for sure :) I'll do a full con report when I'm back in the UK!
For now, I'm just plotting up my next convention, to try and avoid any PCD... And next up I'll be headed back to ESG in Las Vegas with
zen! I've been a little late in sorting it out, but I think I'm pretty much ready with everything now... So who will I see there? :D
The last 2 years I've been were just amazing. Elliott's events are different to other conventions, and act more like a chill-out and meet up gathering, with some brilliant scheduling, celeb guests of honour and awesome artists I look up to. The fact that it's in Sunny Vegas just helps with the holiday vibe! From drinking at the private pool party, a free Brazilian BBQ for the entire con, some great dances and friends, I can't wait to head back ^^
I didn't bring my fursuit with me last year which I regretted right off the bat, so I'll definitely be bringing Icey along for some shots on the Strip and by the sign! There's a few videos out there from last years event which show just how fun this looks.
They've changed the location to the Palms Casino Resort (http://www.palms.com) which really looks awesome - and I expect the hotel will be changing a lot of my wallet for booze and poker! ;)

I'll be arriving on Thursday 20th, and touching down in Atlanta around 17:40. I'm not sure what to really expect of the con, other than that a lot of friends say it's a blast - I'm looking forward to just partying, suiting and perhaps most importantly, drinking ;D
That being said, I probably won't know tons of people out there, so if you see me around do feel free to say hi :) For those asking, Zen won't be coming along sadly!

I've made initial contact to those I've picked so if you haven't been formally noted yet, I'm afraid the slot was filled. :(
That being said, I'm holding off letting you all know it's a definite no in case someone has to pull out. You never know :)

General Update - ESG Vegas

Time has seriously flown by way too quickly, but just over a month ago me and zen hit up Elliott's Spring Gathering in Las Vegas. I've sadly not had the time in the day to write up any form of a con report until now (heck, I even wrote most of this on a lunch break at work!) but what can I say - It was a truly outstanding experience and one I really hope I can get to enjoy again some time! I simply cannot recommend the event any more, and it's an experience I would love for you all to have. :)
As per my last journal, we chose to hit up ESG again after an amazing time at the gathering last year in Florida. The fact that the team moved this particular event over to Las Vegas was a blessing in disguise; I've always wanted to head out there, and now I finally had the excuse - though it didn't take much convincing :P
A lot of people wondered why we wouldn't choose a bigger American convention since we had to travel from the UK - Trust me, if we could do more American cons we would! ESG won it since we had such a great time last year, and it's a nicely paced time with less rushing around.
There are way too many names to mention without fear of missing someone out, but thanks to everyone for making our time there so much fun! I'm very sure you all know who you are anyway :) Perhaps more importantly, a huge thank you has to be said to the team at Elliott's for pulling it all together and making it work.
It's tough to sum up a single thing that made the gathering so much fun... I think it's just the combination of great people in a great place with some great events that just worked so well. Couple that with a relaxed atmosphere (none of the usual convention pressures) and the sights and sounds of Vegas and you've got an amazing weekend on your hands. I use the words 'relaxed atmosphere' very carefully - the Hard Rock Hotel was far from it! With a huge pool party from 10am through to the evening, the 24 hour casino floor and a nightclub hired out just for the gathering, me and the tiger barely let ourselves have 5 minutes where we weren't doing something or going somewhere :P
To keep it fairly brief as I could go on for ages, some highlights for me were:
Walking the strip (everyone has to do it at least once - best enjoyed when not sober!)
Drinking
An incredible Brazilian buffet paid for by the convention.
Drinking
Gambling andwinning losing it all
Private pool parties just for the convention
Drinking
Catching up with old friends and meeting lovely new ones <3
Sobering up Drinking
Some great DJ's (a handful of awesome furry DJ's and Orbital)
Hookers and blow Drinking some more.
Coming second in rooftop poker with a few fine furs (AKA "How to give
Nbowa all of your money" ).
It does suck that me and the tiger missed out on a couple of events purely to our own bad timing. But ESG seems to go down the casual approach whereby the events are simply there if you want to go, and are usually of such calibre that you'd be upset if you didn't :P
It all amalgamated to one hell of a party that I can't wait to hopefully do again. I think I'm just about sobered up and ready for it all again!
On the Monday after the con we pretty much spent most of our time out by that gorgeous pool until a red-eye flight in the evening. Being a pasty white-guy from the UK I enjoyed the Vegas sunshine a little too eagerly and briefly turned into Dr Zoidberg... Probably wasn't my proudest moment...
From there we headed off to Florida, followed by Confuzzled when we landed back home in the UK - which are their own journals entirely!
I'm starting to miss that sunburn now... :P

Me and zen both headed to ESG2012 last year in Florida and had a truly epic time. There was way too much to do (private pool party, awesome hotel, complimentary tickets to DisneyWorld, Paintball, loads more... It was insane!) - Though being a Brit and fursuiting for the first time in the Orlando heat was some experience :P
They've moved the Spring event over to the West coast this year, I assume to share the love with the other side of the US, but regardless we wanted to head back - and this time it's in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas <3
..I give myself 2 hours before I've blown all savings on BlackJack and lost Zen in a Poker match :P
Honestly though, it's a great excuse for us to meet new West Coast furs so do shout out if you're thinking of going :)
We're still waiting for reg to open but when it does it'll be here - https://elliottsliveevents.org I'm following them on Twitter though ( ElliottsEvents ) as it'll probably be announced there first.

Drawing, Watchers & Eurofurence 18

Me and the tiger are now back from Eurofurence 18, fursuits washed and livers cleansed (momentarily ;p )
The con was an absolute blast - I cannot recommend it any higher than I had done last year. Sure, there were some hit and miss moments here and there, but you get that at every con and almost all of it was down to attendees, and not reflective of the con itself :) If you haven't been before and have the means to, you owe it to yourself to head along!
I got a lot more fursuiting in - though knowing my luck I've avoided almost every camera around! Me and Zen sadly didn't get a chance to go much further from the hotel for more pics around Magdeburg, so maybe we'll need to do that some other year. Hoping to see a few pics hop upon the coming weeks, as well as any vids that might have been going - Do link to me if you took any nice ones, always on the lookout for some :)

Aside from EF, I've noticed a good few watchers still coming in on this, mostly dormant, account. It's always such a nice thing to see, and is -so- appreciated! I know I mentioned in a couple of journals I'm going to be drawing more; now I have no choice ;P Me and Zen want to get way more seriously into art and, after a quick computer-room change around, we should be spending a good few nights a week dedicated to drawing :)
My reasons for stopping drawing were made up of a combination of laziness, video game addiction and personal resent for the end product :P Looking through my gallery just makes me embarrassed, so I hope I can improve :)

Confuzzled Recap + Drawing
General | Posted 13 years agoI'll keep it short and sweet - Confuzzled kicked ass :)
Staff did a great job picking the perfect hotel and running it as smooth as can be. I didn't meet up with nearly as many people as I had planned but still met many new faces!
I can't recommend the convention enough - If you can make it next year, don't deprive yourself!
I managed to get some more fursuiting done in iceyfursuit but still managed to dodge the cameras quite a fair amount :P
Also, expect more art in the coming weeks, and potentially a commission or two if the interest is still there (Right after I get back into the groove! :) ) I've started drawing again and only now remember how much I missed it :P Too much time wasted on the xbox!

Staff did a great job picking the perfect hotel and running it as smooth as can be. I didn't meet up with nearly as many people as I had planned but still met many new faces!
I can't recommend the convention enough - If you can make it next year, don't deprive yourself!
I managed to get some more fursuiting done in
iceyfursuit but still managed to dodge the cameras quite a fair amount :PAlso, expect more art in the coming weeks, and potentially a commission or two if the interest is still there (Right after I get back into the groove! :) ) I've started drawing again and only now remember how much I missed it :P Too much time wasted on the xbox!

Elliott's Spring Gathering 2012
General | Posted 13 years agoSo, it's looking like me and Zen should be making it to Elliott's this year! :D Super excited for it, though time is running out for me and the tiger to get prepared!
I've heard nothing but good stories about the event - And who knows, I might even be able to fetch my fursuit while I'm out there! (Not looking forward to the TSA ransacking it on on the way back though ;P) Fingers crossed I'll be able to début it in Orlando!
I really doubt I'll be drawing or anything while I'm out there (Might do the odd sketch here or there :) ) but Zen should be selling prints and perhaps a couple of sketches in the Artist Alley - Drop by and say hi!

I meant to mention on here aside from twitter, I'll be taking on (after a good few practice sessions ;P) a couple of commissions over the next month. Feel free to pop an idea over via note and I'll let you know if it's something I might take on!
Space is strictly limited to only a couple, and all aims are for them to be finished by September.
Cost wise, I'm still thinking about what I can realistically charge. I'm thinking £25-£30 for a 2 char + bg pic, whereas before this was over £45... I never felt comfortable asking that much!
