I feel that it's time that I wrote this journal. I'm sure people have noticed that my updates on PMD: Wildfire have dried up. It's been a year and a half since I posted chapter 9. My writing has become so sparse that I'm even forgetting elements of my own story, which led to an embarrassing timeline error in chapter 9 that I didn't catch until after I posted it. The fact is that I've lost interest in working on the story any longer. I've been trying to justify keeping it alive to myself by saying that I'm still thinking of ideas even if I haven't been writing much, and I actually do think of the story all the time, but it's time to call it quits. I've been derailed so many times before buying the house by noisy family or neighbors who don't care, and it gets harder to get back into the story every time. I have a peaceful environment now, but now there's a new problem. PMD: Wildfire features a dying democracy finally being toppled by fascists, which is an uncomfortably close parallel to what's currently happening here in the United States. It's killed what remaining fun that there was in writing the story. This is all in addition to me just being a slow writer even under the best of conditions. So, rather than string everyone along, myself most of all, I've decided to walk away from PMD: Wildfire for good. I might still write the occasional short story from time to time, but this is it for my long story writing.

So, where do I go from here? Well, I thought about getting into art. I wanted to be an artist before I became a writer, but I didn't think I had the chops for it. I'd tried getting into art a couple of times previously, but became discouraged. I really want to make it happen this time, though. I'm going to start drawing sketches, and I'm going to try to do that every day to build confidence and control. I'm a long way away from having anything post-worthy, but maybe a year or so from now, I might be posting art of my own. :)
