Today's installment in my Tutorial/Protip Tuesdays series is some fantastic knowledge on how to remove excess paint from fur or other surfaces. This is the product I am using. You need to be sure to blot it all off of the fur when you are done using clean paper towels, until no more solution or paint is coming up. Once that is done, it's like regular fur again! If your paint is still wet/fresh, Createx airbrush cleaner works well too (though maybe not quite THIS well).

I prefer to hand sew in everything reasonable and only use the airbrush to blend, whenever possible or reasonable. On some things, and for some colors and patterns, however, it's just better to airbrush it all on. It really has to be looked at on a case by case basis, and a lot of the time it's the customer's final decision which method is used.
Also, if you airbrush slowly in several light coats, the texture change can be very minimal.

I can see this method being used to create that unique "black skin" kind of look that's going on here when then paint was removed. The faint black under-layer there is really awesome looking! If I was getting a silvery or light grey wolf suit, that's how I'd want it to look :D Though I'm sure that'd be really difficult to do all over and cost quite a bit more due to the extra materials and processes. Still though...Love the end result look!!!
Haha I feel ya. I had to use some last night to fix a head I pretty badly messed up. I did try a few different methods since I had no idea what I was doing. Airbrush disperses it too much (but worked well with the Airbrush cleaner). Scrubbing with paper towel is what I did a lot, but I also tried applying some with these cotton circle pads I have (like cotton balls but flat with more surface area). That was good for the applying bit, but not the blotting or the scrubbing. In short as you say paper towel is the way to go.
Thanks for making a post about this stuff, it really saved my hide, and hopefully I won't have to use it again for a while :)
