Commission of Narkissa Kassius done by

When Belinda Kassius and her daughter Narkissa slowed to a stop on their home driveway in Phoenix, Arizona, she sighed upon seeing the younger ringtail lemur curled up on her seat, her arms wrapping around her bent legs and her chin resting on the knees. For the first time in her high school basketball career, Narkissa decided to come home wearing her basketball uniform (after speaking with her head coach). As the drive toward home progressed however, she turned to regret the decision as fear clouded her mind but Belinda remained stubborn, reassuring her repeatedly that it will be okay. She set the car on park and leaned back on her seat with another sigh.
"Mom, can we just go to Kristy's and I can change--"
Belinda shook her head. "No, you made this decision and you have to follow through with it. Come on now, don't back off when we've come this far. You've just gone through a very good game against Desert Valley and made how many points?"
Narkissa glanced back at her with the corner of her eyes, her muzzle barely moving atop her knees except for a twitch of whiskers. "Twenty-six... Desert Valley sucks though."
"Don't drag yourself down. Let's go meet your father."
Narkissa groaned but finally opens her door, unclasping her seatbelt and slowly escapes from the confides of the Kassius family car. With her maroon and gold Mountain Pointe High School uniform at full display on her, she walked toward the door with Belinda behind her, but upon reaching the door of their house, she turned and buried her muzzle onto her mother's chest.
"Mom, what if he starts screaming again?"
Belinda frowned at that, one of her arms loosely wrapping around her daughter. William Kassius was generally not an abusive person, but was prone to losing his temper once his buttons were pushed, and there's a huge orange-red button labeled 'basketball' in his mind. Before Narkissa was born, William was a highly-touted college basketball player that entered the Furry Basketball Association 1973 Draft, coming out with a third pick in the first round. He believed the hype created by the media and his agent, but upon playing on a professional level, he fell flat and the media darlings turned against him, labeling him as a draft bust. After his contract ended a few years later, he turned down an offer from his first team thinking he deserved more money, but when no more offers came, he declared an early retirement from the FBA and turned against basketball as a whole. When Narkissa was in middle school, she turned to the sport her father hated as a 'form of teenage rebellion', and much to William's shock, she enjoyed playing the sport.
"I'll be with you every step of the way, Kissa," Belinda assured her again and she opened the door. Narkissa hesistated but walked inside the house, almost immediately confronting the much-taller ringtail lemur standing in the living room with a look of surprise on his face. William almost dropped the cup of coffee he was holding, but the sight of his daughter wearing a basketball uniform wasn't just a mere tap on his hot topic button in his brain... it was more like a punch.
Feeling the immediate tension, Belinda stepped ahead of their daughter and stood between them. "Will, please just... don't say anything."
Obviously due to his rising temper, William ignored his wife's request. "What is she doing here wearing that? Is this some kind of cruel joke?"
Belinda raised her paws, palms-forward toward him at chest level. "She wants the truth to come out... she's been playing for the high school basketball team since the season started..."
"And I didn't know a thing about it?!"
Both Belinda and Narkissa flinched from the outburst, but again Belinda spoke while Narkissa stayed behind her mother. "I signed the papers... I paid the bills and did everything so that she can play whatever sport she wants..."
"And it has to be basketball? What about softball or soccer?"
Narkissa finally spoke up. "I didn't like playing those. Basketball's the only one I'm good at."
William's expression on his face twisted in anger. "You knew... you BOTH knew... how I feel about that sport. About how the FBA wrongly treated me. And you do this behind my back?! You could have joined anything, Kissa! Softball, crafts, chess club, I don't care! But basketball?! What is this shit?!"
Belinda growled. "Watch your language!"
Narkissa already regretted her own decision to come out like this, but the words from her father stung her deeper than she's willing to cope with and she withered emotionally, reeling away from her parents. "I'm sorry, I..." With that, she turned away and ran out the door, escaping from her screaming parents and finding a brief place of silence outside of her own house. As her parents' squabbling continues in the faint background, Narkissa leaned against the stucco wall, embracing herself. Despite her best efforts, tears rolled down her face and she sniffed loudly.
"Goddamnit..." she muttered. Of course, her father would react like this! She felt it would be better if she exposed the truth through her own way and not through her father investigating and finding out on his own, but still, she wasn't prepared for this...

Although a 'compromise' was reached between William and Narkissa to allow her to continue playing basketball, it came with consequences. Narkissa continued to play basketball in high school for Mountain Pointe, but he forced her to promise never to play basketball beyond high school. He never attended any of her home or away games, refused to drive her to other schools for away games, and Narkissa never again mentioned about her games in his presence.
When Narkissa broke her promise and played basketball for Arizona State, William grabbed a decorative vase in the living room and threw it against a wall when he heard the news. Again, he never attended any of her basketball games, and never spoke a word about it with her at home.
When Narkissa entered the FBA Draft in 2012, William silently vowed to 'enlighten' her daughter on the evils of the FBA, and had the hope of driving her away from the FBA for good. Toward the end of the regular season in 2013 before the playoffs, William confronted her again after a game in Winnipeg... and that was the last time he had seen her.
Both William and Narkissa are not in speaking terms with each other currently.

Grah! So sorry I didn't reply to you about this! x_X Well, update... Narkissa has a FBA championship ring now but the relationship between her and her father remains estranged to the point where Narkissa 'gave up' on trying to impress him. She had surpassed far beyond what her father had done for the FBA.
