I really wanted to try my hand at combining my figurines with backgrounds again and I got my inspiration for this one from an Irish love song called 'On the Banks of the Roses', in particular it's refrain:
...
On the Banks of the Roses me love and I sat down
And I took out me fiddle for to play me love a tune
And in the middle of the tune-o she sighed and she said
Oro Johnny, lovely Johnny don't ya leave me

The way you rendered this image is amazing. It reminds me of the impressionists' works like those of Van Gogh, Renior, and perhaps Cezanne, who often applied the paints directly from the tube. This application style gave the images kind of a 3-D effect, with added vibrance of color, unique to the times. I'm also reminded of the "Claymation" effect popular in the early 1980s used in video clips such as Peter Gabriel's "Big Time" where the colored layers of clay were often laid upon a surface and allowed to melt and blend into each other, being filmed a few frames at a time.
