I think there might actually be some scale brushes out there, but for whatever reason I seem to stick with plain round ones and paint everything by hand. :) Thank you for the compliment!

I'm glad you like it! She has a lovely character design- I'm a sucker for purples and blues and shiny things. (Also, I kind of have to laugh at your mention of details, because my husband is always on my case for being too neurotic about following references! XD He claims I approach art and writing like there's a "correct" answer out there somewhere. I dunno, I just think the details on your ref are pretty, so they needed to be included- I really like how you drew the faded edges on her belly-scales. :D ) Hope your unpleasant appointment wasn't anything too serious!
