You ever have a project that you worked so hard on and just couldn't seem to get right? That fancy speakers and spatula combo, the self-washing cereal bowl? The 'RENA' was one of those projects.
What started out as a simple and harmless idea had too many flaws and seemingly impossible to fix features. The 'RENA' was supposed to be an emergency suit for hazardous locations, providing a contained environment for the wearer to escape from potentially lethal situations involving contaminants. And to look like a designer latex-creature of everyone's favorite digital fox during said evacuation. Might as well have a bit of style during times of danger!
Upon release the 'morphic goo' spreads over the intended person and sets/seals up tighter than even a second skin should be. But instead of a two-way filter for air intake the suit's largest flaw comes into play. The filter system is mostly for retaining what's already within the suit, and flaw number two doesn't help with that. Somewhere along the line during the shaping of the suit into a popular design of everyone's favorite digital monster, things went a little screwy. The 'RENA' was merged with the genetic structure from the mephit family of stripe-tailed stankbutts, making the suit into a horrible mockery of its intended purpose with deadly results!
The suit still provides protection though. It protects the outside world from the potential contamination that rages -inside- of it. The user within isn't so lucky, but safety is key. In theory, lets assume the crux inside is a constant state of limbo. Toxins are keeping them alive, but not conscious enough for rational thought. The suit will just have to give the wearer a bit of 'direction'...and now we have a hazard beyond any belief from something so innocent as hazard wear. Speed up a bit of time and let the subconscious of the wearer go mad with irrational ideas and suddenly you have a sadistic force of toxic love.
And speaking of hazards: The suit is well adapted to 'venting' itself during times of need from various ports, even the mask. Depending on the flavor of the day, the toxicity could be something akin to a simple blasting of a fart, or strong enough to make flowers melt. The renaskunk appreciates the finer scents in life and all 'unclean' air is loved. Toxin, chemical, radioactive? All are fine for her! Superfund sites are like playgrounds~. But being as the renaskunk lacks any 'hard' defenses the suit has adapted to overly aggressive threats. What is foul can also be alluring when the proper pheromones are added! But if all else fails the renaskunk is still a solid being: Over-sized renapaws can still punch...but the 'claws' are little more than nubs on the apex of large digits. And after so much time spent in such nasty mixes of impurity perfectly clean air is not appreciated, and usually shall be rendered impure as soon as possible and by a gigantic 'blast' of pent up spray. Sometimes in a more 'comedic' way to break up the seriousness.
But the suit is always adapting to the environment, always 'fixing' any unseen flaws. Suit and user slowly becoming one. The potential of danger from the seemingly innocent project is matching of crux madness, and a constant reminder of why we don't give said crux a working lab and access to toys/tools.
