Commission for

Sorry for not being productive as of late, still having the “Blaas”. I am working on stuff, just having a time off. All I want to do is stick my head in a hole and forget everything. This is the first a several commission taken to help me through a rough patch. So, Misha's request was his toon helping some other random toon in some way. Sense he is set in a fantasy 1600's setting, I included a friar, and sense I think badgers make the best clergy, I chose a badger reminiscent of Friar Gregory (Fursuit I made as a side project some time ago). I was going to call it “Two Mules for Brother Sam”, as a joke/nod to the Clint Eastwood movie “Two Mules for Sister Sara”, but I was afraid to many would not get it. It was a bit of a stretch.
It was also nice to do a charcoal again, I haven't done one as a commission for some time. I love the way it looks and the way it makes my studio smell (of pencil shavings and potential).

Lot of soul in this picture, funny part? My first thought was "catch the hat!" Hopefully our traveling duo will make it to their destination unharmed.
An sorry to hear about the blaah's they seem to be attacking everyone. As for work? That's an evil trap. Need money to live in comfort, need to work to get it, to tired after you got it. Self feeding loop, that.
Impressive how you get so much detail just using charcoal. I've never touched it before so I wouldn't know half the tricks you do to make such awesome detail.
