The fact this is a sketch boggles my mind. The hair texture. The expression. It's clear thought goes into each and every one of your works. I admit I do feel inspired by your work.
Less of a rivalry, more of a 'someday I will be good enough for senpai to notice me' kind of inspired.
If I weren't ears deep in finals, I would practice practice practice!
I have to ask, if you don't mind- where do you find the inspiration for the lively and expressive works? Is there a specific artist you admire? A book you look at? Surely you must have some sort of reference built up 030

And hmm.... usually my inspiration comes from the overall--like anatomical style and coloring/painting technique, and not because of how someone does expressions. I think what pushes me to do expressions more than anything, is that it just gets boring doing the same thing all the time y'know? It's fun to push yourself to draw things with different expressions and emotions and things you may not have done before. Same with doing different poses, or trying different atmospheres and such.
Tho, a handful of my favorite artists who continue to inspire me all the time include; Takehito Harada, Pigeon666, Centradragon, Murata Yuusuke, and hujimogeo to name a few! ^Q^
