I've been working on these on and off for the past 3 years...
The most recent "upgrade" has been the physical wings themselves. These however, are heavier than the previous iteration and therefor require more torque to raise them. So I'm having to add a second 343oz.in servo and lift each side independently. I am also upgrading the motor that drives the flapping mechanism to a re-purposed IKEA drill motor.
Hopefully after these changes, this wing rig will finally be done and I can use what I have learned from it to make more on commission.

This is a beautiful bit of animatronics and I think you should seriously consider doing a small write up and submitting the project to Hackaday or other such blogs. They've featured a number of animatronics projects in the past, but these wings look amazing and I think there are a lot of people that would be interested in seeing these. I think you'd have a very good chance of getting featured on their blog if you did happen to submit this project to their tips line.
Actually, I was featured on Hackaday back in 2012.

The video that they use in the article was also done by MakerBot.
I would like to do a full right up on them at some point after they are finally done. I just need to be able to spend more time on them.
