Yeah, first artwork in 2016 (at least where I'm from) and it's even a TRADITIONAL ARTWORK!
^^
This "Action-Comic-Cover" styled artwork shows my main heroes in a powerful battle stance: Reptile, Valeris and Kyle are ready to fight the horrible Khan and his Barbarian hordes. The final battle for peace has begun and will be fought on the plains of AKTES!
It's a very bright and colourful piece but I'm really happy with the result. I've done plenty of "poser artworks" in the past... most of them to show off the (mostly male) body and muscles (mostly Reptile). But this here is a typical "comic cover" artwork again... only the title is missing.
XD
Seriously, I like it because it looks like something from my past years... when I had the time to draw graphic novels.
Well, there are some errors in proportion and anatomy here and there... but it's a typical "overdrawn comic style", if you like. ^^"
Enjoy!
Drawing media:
Pencils, ink, brush, COPICS, markers, coloured pencils, acrylics (no digital media!)
Working time:
3 days (about 18 hours)

The Background really sets the mood here, really gives off the air of everything coming to a head.
From where I stand, Valeris looks to be the only one who's keeping her composure, with Reptile & Kyle broadcasting their emotions.
I'll assume that under the armour there's plenty of felt/padding, both to help absorb blows and make it comfortable enough to wear.
The weapon that Valeris wields, it look to have a lot of its weight forwards, so while it would make for some savage blows, I'm not sure how easy it would be to handle. That and looking as heavy as it does, I think it's a single-use weapon, as fatigue could set in quickly.
Not sure what else to add to this, other than KAAAAAHHHN(!) - oh wait, wrong Kahn - won't be coming out of this easy.

Valeris is resolve but still very calm. Her character is rather strong and shows less emotion, indeed. ^^
And yep, all the pole-arm weapons are used for one fatal, single blow. In Reptile's case, he can use his entire strenght and body weight to increase the power. Valeris would need her dexterity to chance a good blow - but they are both skilled enough to do that!
XD
Yes, it is "Khan"... I need to correct that. ^^
EDIT:
It's Khan!
But I know... the gag was tempting. XD

Now...Explain to me WHY the heck you AREN'T working in the comic book industry again?? Seriously, you would probably be hired in a heartbeat. 18 hours for this entire picture? Wow. I need to do more stuff like this.
Uhh...any chance you will be open again for art trades? I know we never got ours moving because of horrible timing, but I am now totally ready. Got my drawing skills back up and updated characters. Let me know.

Well, first of all... I would not be hired because THIS KIND of "90s comic style" is rather outdated... and I'm not sure if this kind of fantasy would still be welcomed. After all, people expect superheroes in comic books these days.
Furthermore, I really would have to give up my safe (!!) job at school to draw comics...... ^^"
And I am not doing ART TRADES anymore, sorry. I gave it up. And I'm trying to draw as much as possible... though I haven't got much time.
Thanks for the comment!!!

I'm only doing art for myself (or occasional gifts) these days. Sorry.
It's nothing personal... and frankly... you had a lot of time to ask me and to do this with me. It's not that I would EXPECT a certain "level of quality" from you... NO WAY!!
We could have done it long ago... I don't care if you think "you are not good enough to trade with me" or something like this. That is bullshit! ^^ I don't measure people's skills!!!!
Anyway... I'm not gone from here so there might be a chance in the future.
And "collab" sounds fair.

Wow. That is amazing. That is too good to buy into the fact it s traditional art. I would be more convinced if it's digital. But you did this without a computer of any sort. I love how you used old skool methods ans you pull it off like i'm looking at a movie poster or a cover of a 1940s comic. That is so epic. Great work!
Always nice to see your new traditional work again. the fighting stance clearly demonstrates the trio's bravery, valor and salvation for their nation.
It feels like a true comic style!
You don't have to worry about the mistakes in the final result when you've drawn your universe (and gift arts) for almost two decades. All you have to do is to be proud of your work.
Keep up your good work, Patrick!

Loving your coloring work here again. All the traditional coloring you do here sort of makes me feel as well nostalgic sort of, really good to see something done like this ;) Nice to see as well Valeris making an appearrance and I do like ow nicely you managed to draw bit complex angle of Kyle holding his blade too. Nice work on that part as well ^^
Duuuuuuude! this IS Aaaaawesome! : DE
Almost better than I expected! So colorful, so well painted, with a great composition, the shading, textures and everything else is really great!
That shiny part of Kyle´s sword was a nice little touch for a sharpy look, although the other´s weapons has the same shining thingy XD but in my oppinion it´s well placed ; ) but his face, man that face" is very expressive, the colors in his face looks really good ^ ^
Valeris looks ayayay XD which it´s a complement heheh. But the pose itself looks pretty nice and with a sweet movement for her, and with the shading, my my, looks like someone has been making some excercise XD
And Reptile, the cherry of the cake (technically he´s at the top XD) a great work man! the scales perfect and realistic as always, you never stopped in amazing me ; )
This is something I wanna print and place it in my wall : D

As usual I saved your comment to read it and fully enjoy it.
I saved it for now... and all I can say is THANKS!
^_^
Thanks for the considerate and kind words.
Drawing humans is my speciality and I am glad how it turned out.
Valeris' body isn't so well done... I'm not good at females. ^^"
Reptile, on the other hand, was easy.
Thanks very much!
And if you like..... you are free to print this!

Hm... well, if you think so. His face is surely sweaty, that's from the anxiety and the whole battle. His cheeks... yeah, his face is pretty thin. The lack of nourishment explains it and... it is my style to draw the cheek bones so dominant. Something I got from Jim Lee's drawings.
