It kinda reminds me of a scene happened yesterday.
I was having lunch at the university, and then a sparrow approached me. I told my friends she was a female, and asked them to give her some food (mine was not good for them).
They threw at her something, and in an instant a male sparrow, that was hiding under a car, came in screaming (yep, never heard a sparrow screaming, but it was definitely a scream XD) and stole the food, then run away to eat it in peace.
The female looked at us, picked up whatever remained, then flew away. Poor fella.
It's funny how I expected such a behavior from the hooded crows around us, not another sparrow.
