This is inspired by my own personal headcanons of dutch angel dragon lore about the war. You can find the canon story and information at dutchangeldragons.com!
My own personal theory (again not canon) was that angel dragons started to become corrupt do to the imbalance between good and evil, fear rose up between dragons. Dragons of the abyss were targeted at 'corrupt' and unfairly imprisoned, any dragon with darker feathers became 'suspicious' and 'untrustworthy'. Soon there was uprising and armies began to form to snuff the cries of the resistance of unfairly targeted abyss dragons. Armies clashed and corruption ran through both sides that ultimately lead to the downfall of both sides.
Freefall was a captain of a flight attack team, he was cocky and arrogant and it lead to his ultimate corruption. It wasn't till after he fell from paradise and met a old farmer that he learned humility and kindness.
I plan to make comics about my ideas but I'm not sure ;) enjoy!
