Argent waits at the ready,

I thought it was about time for Argent to get some fantasy art of his own <3
Whereas I'm thinking of Ulric either as a sword wielding fighter or an armour clad defender with a heavy shield, my thought for Argent is that he would prefer to stay slightly back from the front line. In that way he would either be a scout while by himself (hence the relatively light armour), or would attack with a spear, polearm or glaive while in formation. In such a situation, Ulric would serve as Argent's shield while Argent would be responsible for delivering precise strikes from the safety that Ulric's bulwark would provide.

Yep! Though I also like the idea of Argent being terrified by an overwhelming foe and standing huddled behind Ulric, quivering as he tries to jab at it over the rim of Ulric's shield.

Yes, because who needs swords, daggers, etc. when you can cause meteor storms, strike divine lightning, cause tidal waves, earthquakes, you get the picture... and whack people with a book. XD

Psssh. Every mage knows that you gotta go hard cover with your tomes for all your book whacking needs.
As absolutely hilarious as it is to beat an enemy with a porno magazine (I'm not kidding. A Fan translation of Tales of Phantasia had such a weapon, where the official English release changed it to the Glossy Magazine, though the implications are still there), casting would get pretty hard.
