Well, not really, he would need to extend the sling and hang it at his hip, then fit the stock into the leather cup on his belt. Which you can't do with the ww2 era Bars due to the shoulder rest.
He's just firing it from the shoulder while walking, Walking Fire was a specific tactic.
That said it was really meant to be fired like that, like an automatic rifle instead of some mere LMG.
