Traveling through a distant land, the sister and brother Dragoons Sierra and Larc happened upon a tavern where they met a fellow pair of wolf siblings named Zen and Natani who called themselves the grandiose (but misleading) "Brothers Magi." Over the course of the evening, they went from sharing a table to sharing a room. It ended up being a mutually beneficial arrangement, and not just for the coins they saved.

Finally found it! The last one was the one I remembered and my favorite of the bunch, but found some other moments leading up to it... And no wonder you didn't remember. It's been years!

Wow, it has been years. Thats more just biology though, what i meant was her split personality that has sprung up when the link between natani and zen was broken. I was wondering what it would be like for the male half of natani's brain if the female part somehow took over the controls.
That's really not how it works. Natani identifies as male, as confirmed by his "younger self" when he was in a coma. He was comfortable dressing and behaving like a male even before the accident. It's not like there's a "female personality" hiding in his head somewhere that can "take control." He's just actually transgender and not just scrambled from the mindlink like we originally theorized earlier in the comic.
The thing with that is that the younger self is from before the link between natani and zen was created. that means that that part of natani's mind identify's as female where the older self identify's as male due to the fact that part of natani's mind that was destroyed by the spell cast by the mage they were sent to assassinate was the part that identify's as female. When their minds were linked, natani's female identity was replaced by zen's male identity.
It's not really a distinct part of his mind. It was essentially just a dream that personified some of his memories in the form of his own younger self. There's no implication that Natani has some kind of dissociative identity disorder or something. He's just transgender. That's all. "Youngtani" gave us the implications that he had already been starting to realize he identified as male before the accident, which then fucked up that realization process and basically hid that development from him under the idea that he was only that way because of the mind link. While the mind link was suppressed by the collar they put on Zen, he was still identifying as male.
"Young Natani" clarified two things for him and the audience. 1 - that he had started feeling more comfortable presenting as male before the accident. 2 - dressing or behaving in "feminine" ways now and then does NOT invalidate him identifying as male. Literally everything about how Tom is writing Natani shows he's intended as a positive transgender character.

If she was intended to be a positive TG character, natani would have made that choice herself, not have it forced on her by some spell. That does not paint TG's in a very good light to me.
Edit: My bad, im getting terms mixed up here. It was natani's soul that was ripped apart, not her mind. My point still stands though, it even says it on the twokinds wiki.

Except for the part I just mentioned where he confirmed to himself that he felt more comfortable presenting as a man even before the accident. The accident and resulting mindlink confused and overrode the situation, interrupting his natural realization that he identified as male. The wiki also agrees with everything I said, mentions right at the top that he's transgender, and notes that his gender and sex are different in the bio on the side. I don't know what "point" you're really trying to make by invalidating a transgender character's identity.
I think its more of an opinion thing at this point really. To me, natani is not a true TG as that is a choice one willingly makes in ones life, not something that happens as the side affect of a magic spell to me. Not to mention that we kinda totally diverged from what i was originally trying to say in the first place lol. Either way, lets just agree to disagree before the discussion turns name calling.
But that's what I've been saying. He WAS willingly making that decision before the accident. His process of realization was interrupted. But during his coma, when the mindlink wasn't overshadowing his own mind, he realized that. I'll agree to drop it here, though. Thank you for arguing civilly anyway.
