"When is this going to stop?" Azar questioned as be came increasingly more concerned about the growth of his waistline. He was right on the verge of his belly becoming his own mattress and was none too pleased about it. Where both he and Yri had been two perfectly fit dragons moments ago, the pink mist-like magic had permeated through their bodies and had quickly swollen them up. Now the two dragons looked like they had fattened themselves on a feast large enough for ten or more dragons.
"Just... have to reach... a little.. farther!" Yri groaned as he desperately tried to reach the spell book. Unfortunately the adventurous white dragon's own rounded size kept him from properly rolling over, and with the two dragons so close to each other, their combined girth was preventing Yri from reaching the book that was causing this mess.
"How did this even happen?! You told me this was just a simple winter survival spell!" Azar exclaimed as he tried to reach out and push the book over towards Yri. Unfortunately, another surge of magic forced the dragon up another foot or so on his belly to put him just out of reach of the book.
"It didn't say what kind of winter survival! But I guess it's the 'fat keeps you warm' kind," he said. He let out another frustrated groan as his talons just barely scraped along the edge of the pages of the book. Azar could only sigh as he looked back at his plump body then to Yri's. He doubted their was spell to undo this and if the magic kept coming there was no telling when the book intended to stop.
Worse yet, he swore he could hear footsteps approaching both dragons from not too far away. Whoever it was, Azar hoped they could help. But he certainly wasn't looking forward to the tale they would tell of the two fat dragons found in the forest.
After all the problems Azar's had with magic in the past combined with his own inability to use magic to protect himself, he really should stay as far away from any magical items as possible. But this time he thought his friend, Ehtyriel, had a pretty good handle on what he was doing. One misinterpreted spell later and Azar was quickly reminded why he should never trust magic. Based on his experience, it's unlikely that the book has a way to reverse the spell (if Ethyriel can ever reach it!), which means a long waddle back to the city.
