so here we are, a new year, a new character (got him a while back, finally uploaded him here! thanksies again
! )
Meet my new Cuban river otter, Ignacio de la Miranda!
Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Ignacio had a fairly simple life growing up during the island nation's progressive transitional era, his parents raising him to be nonetheless self-sufficient and resourceful as possible with what they had on hand. Ever since he was born, Ignacio loved to swim, and whenever he could sneak out of the house, he would take the opportunity to explore as much as he could reach, from the rivers to the mountains and tropical forests, finding peace in the beauty of nature, the trickling of the streams and rivers, the soft pitter-patter of the rain, and the waves of the sea. His teen years saw him riding on his bike all over the main roads leading to every corner of the island, from Havana Harbor to Baya de Coccinos to Baracoa, sometimes ending up giving his parents a good fright with how far he'd go and how long he'd be away without notice, so much so that he finally ended up getting picked up by the police a couple times, which, needless to say was not a pleasant experience, nor were the lectures from his parents when he was brought home. During his youth, he would sometimes help the newly-forming surf club in cleaning the beaches of garbage left lying around, and eventually gained friends whom would show him how to do more than just swim when he visited the coast; his love for surfing the waves became one of his passion hobbies in his spare time when he wasn't driving a cab in Havana along with his mother to earn extra money, as well as fishing with his father in the harbor, both for profit and food for the family, which allowed him to hone his skills in piloting small boats. His friends would teach him not only how to handle a surfboard on the waves, but also how to maintain and repair them, evolving into him restoring old boards for other fellow surfers. After graduating college at age 24, he took up a decent-paying job in leading river tours throughout Havana for tourists from all over the world, his knowledge of his home city allowing him to also act as a tour guide and historian.
