If you care at all about heavy metal history, Venom laid the foundation for all the extreme metal subgenres with these albums. They're kinda best described as a bridge from the more traditional hard rock oriented metal of Black Sabbath and Judas Priest and the more extreme type of metal recognized as black metal and death metal today. Motörhead but with an evil twist. I'm not sure what kind of music you like, but if you enjoy harder and heavier metal music but are turned off by the shrieking/growling vocals and the more difficult to listen to song structures of extreme metal, Venom fits the bill perfectly.

Rad. You're right, it does fit the pic. I was never into HARD metal...the closest I ever got was Rammstein and rob zombie. In my angsty days. I'll still listen to them when I'm raging out in LA traffic.
Music influences my mood so I try to keep it all relatively positive 90% of the time. Usually I'm into groovy poppy type classic disco. P much anything with a dancable beat.

Music has a domineering effect on my mood as well. A few years ago I discovered that metal (of many varieties) was particularly effective at helping to vanquish my depressive feelings, and I have listened to it almost exclusively ever since.

I feel the same way but with poppy/funk/groovy tunes ^^
