Man's best friend. That's what they call dogs. Loyal companions who are always there for you. But there's something that a lot of people forget about dogs. They're animals. No matter how domesticated they might be, there's still primal instinct in there. No matter how long you've known a dog for, if you became the right shape and size...old friendships might just amount to satisfied appetites.
Zander never expected to find that out. He's a scientist with a small team and a loyal dog to keep them company. But when an experiment goes wrong, Zander and crew find themselves inhabiting new bodies. Those of small cats. Now Zander's looking like a dog's favorite food. Is a pet's loyalty stronger than a canine's hunger?

Fun little story, but had to imagine they must have had shrunk to the size of newborn kittens in order to be swallowed whole by a normal, adult sized German Shepherd, whose stomach would be packed if just one whole adult cat somehow ended up in it. I saw my German Shepherd sized Malamute sniff out and gulp down whole a young rabbit once, but swallowing a cat any larger than that would be impossible, let alone a whole bunch of them. The other thing that seemed weird though was that the talking dog was still seemingly not intelligent enough to realize that a fair portion of the food he ingested, including the indigestible remains of the normal cats he had routinely eaten previously were eventually "pooped out" with tell tale remains like fur, and probably collars in the case of previous feline meals. Of course, maybe he was just "playing dumb", and was just cruelly toying with his prey. I like the description of the inside the stomach being more realistic than most stories, with its constant, rhythmic churning, instead of just a static sack. Thanks for sharing!
