While I hadn't thought AT ALL about the stereotypical lisping that snake characters are generally portrayed as (They only stick out their tongues to smell, after all, so it'd be like snorting every time you pronounce a consonant), it might be a cute or interesting piece of back story that he was able to train himself to stop lisping while learning to sing. xD
That gives this character even more soul. I kinda like that. Though I think the hissing thing, would be from their teeth. Many of our words are shaped with our tongue and it's flat and wide. There's would be narrow and forked so it'd require possibly some oral gymnastics to pronounce certain words
