James is a bit of a hot-head, and he suffers from mood swings.

Starting life as a normal snake, he wandered into a mysterious cave where he drank from a strange lake. He started feeling dizzy and soon passed out. He woke up a week later and discovered that he was now a 23-foot tall anthro. He was furious at himself and went into a deep depression.

He was kicked out of his home because of his new appearance, and this made him even more angry at himself. He had to leave his family's territory and often kept his sadness hidden behind his anger, and he took his anger out on other creatures, meaning he often killed them in very brutal ways.

One day, he was just looking at himself in the water, years after he became an anthro, he was approached by Synth during his movement to the California redwood forest. He saw Synth's size and didn't attempt to hurt him. When Synth tried to talk to him, he angrily yelled at him to get away and leave him alone.

Synth left him be, but as he was leaving, James realized that Synth and he may have had more in common than he thought, other than their similar skin patterns. He got Synth to stop, apologized for his outburst, which Synth forgave him, and James asked if he could stay with Synth.

Synth didn't mind and allowed him to come along. James and Synth got along well and soon, Synth protected James from a bear by swallowing him whole. James was scared as he didn't expect it, but soon James relaxed upon entering his friend's stomach. James came to enjoy being close to his best friend, and Synth did, too. James even offers to eat Synth and tuck him away in his belly, and Synth doesn't mind it as it makes James happy.
