He took to the small apartment surprisingly well, but even more surprising was how clean he kept it. Aelinore found him stacking away their dishes one evening while donning an old perhaps-too-small apron that practically clung to his broad frame. She suppressed her giggles, but also couldn't help smiling at the fact that he was smiling too.

Minor spoilers-- but Aelinore and Cross DO find somewhere to live together later on in the story where they are less likely to be trampled by homicidal machines. Cross does the home stuff because he finds the routine and predictability of chores calming. For a person whose life was rife with uncertainty and trauma, it helps him heal.

He's also hardly ever seen living creatures like butterflies (there is a reason for that too!) so when he sees one he's more than a little baffled x'D Aelinore loves to brush his hair, and he lets her cos he knows it makes her happy <3

Their lives are simple, but with the war still going on, it is not easy. Atleast for now, they can enjoy it while they can.
