IT'S FINALLY DONE AAAAAA
Okay okay this didn't take as long as the previous one but I admit I have been taking this slow. It seems like I can't really focus on the artwork for more than a few hours per day because my shoulder would just begin to be stiff.
ANYWAY
This is a concept-styled portrait for
Anakie 's ice druid character named Serakie for our D&D campaign. I loved the idea of his character being the Ice Queen of her land. She was supposed to have a little floating ice crown but I thought it would be too over the top so I just drew her in her dress, in her "ice queen" mode, as well as her magical nevermelting orb of ice called Jokull.
Here's the lore about the orb:
Jokull (The Nevermelting Ice)
The orb was an ancient and powerful artifact of the Skraith people; winged birdfolk with resemblances of eagles and hawks. It controls winter and frost, once used to quench the flames of the Dermos; a clan of fire genasi who invaded Fincarya a long time ago from the planes of Fire. Through a great battle known as the War of the Burning Sea, the Dermos people nearly succeeded with invading Fincarya. A brave young Skraith, last few of his people, cornered by the Dermos, infused his soul with the orb. The orb unleashed an explosion of frost that froze the entire land, locking it in a period of eternal winter, until an old wizard Tuatha stopped its enchantment, locking away the orb in the mountains where the Skraith people once lived. Many decades later a fire genasi traveled into Fincarya from the Fire Plane and found the artifact. As the fire genasi sought to claim it or destroy it, the orb flashed in blue light, teleporting out of harm’s way whilst also freezing the thief. This caused the orb to end up hidden in Ceerith Ywae, until Serakie discovered it and picked it up.
Since the previous artwork, I'm beginning to enjoy this new style I picked up - those kinda realistic kind? It is very tedious work but damn the results though <3. I was also new to drawing ice and oh boy those ice crystals were a huge b**** to colour LOL. AND SO WERE THE HAIRS AAAA. But they were fun to do so.
All in all, with this project I'd say I learnt a lot - spent a lot of time experimenting different brushes and textures and utilizing the layer modes more. It was a pretty rewarding piece.
Have a few close-ups as well ~
