i think it’s the connotation of agency we strongly assign to “hands” and the “arms” that give them their reach... when you take them both away, your brain immediately assumes “well, hmmm... that person’s CLEARLY not here to serve their OWN self-interest” even if That Person is yourself. which is a fun submissive headspace to imagine or depict in art
