I haven't finished the game. I wanted to play it with my friend but the more we kept playing it the more we both started to dislike it. The easiest comparison to make is between it and darksouls, but darksouls is much fairer. Too many bosses in Code Vein just have complete BS moves which made it unfun to play.
It wasn't that the game was too hard for me, although it really wasn't my friends cup of tea, it's that I just felt like some of the bosses moves were BS. Example, in the lower area there is a boss with a spear, she has a specific move where she will lunge towards a player at very high speeds. My problem with this move wasn't the lunge itself, but the fact that it is essentially instant and also cleaves behind her. What this amounted to was I was in close with my friend at range, and she would lunge towards my friend, instantaneously chewing through massive amounts of my HP with 0 chances to dodge. Another move I really didn't like was during the poison boss when she would lunge at you and leave a poison trail, the only effective way to dodge that was to untarget the boss. The other thing I felt was the amount of healing you get isn't really enough. Those are the things that I can remember off the top of my head. Like, those were all things that we could deal with, and we did kill those bosses, but it just didn't feel rewarding like it did in dark souls. We realized we weren't having fun so we stopped playing.
