Nebel "Neb" Ellustre lives in Gold Ring during the modern age. She sells fine perfumes and scents, like resins that can be burned to create a scented smoke that can be wafted through someone's home or to add a scent to the fur or feathers. These are often made from very rare and expensive materials of Talyxian origin, a little like oudh on Earth (which is a resin from an infected agar tree and worth more than its weight in gold).

She uses her intuition, which is quite good as a Sergal, to help customers decide which scent matches them best. She never sets foot outside of Gold Ring herself (she finds the very thought dreadful), but has spent her adult life making connections with traders and travelers to get her expensive materials. She always seems to "know someone".

Nebel likes to live in luxury and show off, to keep up appearances. But she never shares her secrets about where all her money comes from, which leads to some rumors spreading about her, all the way up to the rumor that she is secretly a crime boss. But she always assures that such stories are silly and not at all true. She simply likes to draw the right kind of attention by showing off, as this draws the kind of business that keeps her lifestyle going.

She acts very posh in public, which can make some people think that she is just pretentious, but a lot of it is a practiced act. In private, she can show a more relaxed, generous, even loving side.

Artist's Insight

I drew her with these ideas above in mind, tried the best to express every inspiration that I got from her profile and make it fit what can be seen in the Vilous Universe as much as possible. Because of this, some elements are presented to be more lore-friendly looking.

For example, given the structure of Sergal eyes not being conducive to stereopsis, (Sergals' eyes feature superior dynamic visual acuity. However, their overall quality of vision is poor and they have a relatively difficult time focusing on a single point or perceiving depth.) this is why the dropper and the mouth part of the bottle are designed to have a pretty large size to make it easy for a Sergal who works on them.

And the outfits were somewhat inspired by traditional Japanese clothes. Because, most, if not all, "Vilous-esque" clothes are pretty inspired by loose-fitting and ethnic clothes, almost from those of Japanese, Asian, or Middle East styles.

And the Talyxian-origin materials for perfumes and scents are one of the most fun parts to depict. Used full of my imagination, I enjoyed provided various exotic and alien materials there. I hope the colorful materials that she handles and those that are lined up on a shelf would make people enjoy just by looking at those!
