Basil Pizza:
Fresh mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese (grated works best)
Your favourite sauce (I made mine)
Fresh basil, just enough to cover the pizza
A small bowl or container with EVOO for brushing
Basil Pizza:
Roll out your dough to your preferred shape and thickness. Add your sauce in the center and gently spread it in a circulr motion. You want the sauce to just come up to where you want your crust to be. Grate your mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the pizza. I used about a 1:1 ratio, 3/4 C of each cheese to equal a cup and a half total. When adding your basil, keep in mind it will wilt and may get crunchy. To combat this, add a generous amount of basil, and lightly drizzle olive oil over the leaves to keep them soft while baking. With the olive oil set aside in a bowl, brush the crust with olive oil, and place fresh grated parmesan cheese over the crust. Place in oven at 425°F and bake for about 25 minutes. Remove from oven, let cool, portion and enjoy!
NOTE: If you do not have an electric mixer, there are many ways to make dough by hand.
NOTE: The closer you can get to shelf temperature, the better. Be it using a pizza stone, pizza oven, or wood fire. Keep in mind that cook time will alter dramatically.
