Despite its nearly ancient age by the time it was put into use by the Sukeutese, they did find a use for an ACES type suit. Being used for “cheaper” space travel, which would usually mean hitching a ride on a cargo shuttle or some other less advanced space craft.

This was cheaper of course due to the complete lack of amenities, and non-existent comfort. Compared to a “proper” space flight which could be closer to an airliner in treatment, you’re strapped into a seat in the suit the whole time. Not to mention have to deal with the high Gs on launch. So while far from ideal, some have made use of it.

It’s part of a sci-fi setting I’ve been working on, that’s kinda evolved into almost Mobile Suit Gundam AU. It’s not quite there, but it’s close sense the mecha are a big part of it. Albeit only used by one faction, technically. I’ll probably get around to posting more stuff about it eventually.
