Aayin the Chonkysaurus (Size comparison)
This story is a bit long, but I'm sure Jurassic Park fans will love it as it contains a lot of lore from the movies and even some games:
At the beginning of 1989, Áayin was born along with a litter of several other Spinosaurus in the bioengineering laboratory located in “Isla Sorna” 207 miles from Costa Rica.
Áayin and her siblings were the brainchild of bio geneticist Laura Sorkin, who was looking for an alternative method of bringing dinosaurs back to life. Instead of using amphibian DNA as a method of filling in missing genetic code, the scientist suggested using DNA from closely related dinosaurs. This method, although more expensive and time-consuming, demonstrated the ability to create more true-to-life and authentic dinosaurs. Despite InGen sadly opted for the easier method of using amphibian DNA, Laura Sorkin had the opportunity to demonstrate her method with a small number of species, including Spinosaurus.
The first results looked optimistic. Using nearly complete DNA sequences from Spinosaurus and other relatives like Baryonyx and Suchomimus, the Spinos litter looked quite like what geneticists believed to be authentic. Although the use of a miniscule amount of crocodile DNA had made them strangely impulsive. Veterinarians and keepers constantly dealt with the annoyance of being bitten by the pups' tiny teeth, which got worse as they grew older.
All but one were quite competitive, aggressive and territorial, posing increasing danger to their keepers, who feared losing fingers whenever live fish and ground meat were brought to them. Since only one of the Spinos did not react violently to them, the caretakers quickly developed a preference for the one who did not attack them.
One of the veterinarians, from Costa Rica, named the Spino with a calm personality, Áayin. Áayin literally means crocodile in an ancient central american language and was named for the shape of her snout and thick tail, like that of a crocodile.
Since Áayin was calm and never reacted violently to people in the paddock, her keepers were able to feed her without problems and more often than her siblings. That routine over the years gave spectacular results and made Áayin grow faster than the others, to the point that her brothers ran away from her because she was now more than twice their size and heavier than all of them combined.
Measuring more than 13 meters long and weighing 11 tons, the Spinosaurus looked healthy and generated positive reactions from InGen staff, who saw her ready to make the trip off the island and thus occupy a paddock reserved exclusively for her.
Áayin had been chosen to go to Isla Nublar and be part of Jurassic Park. And by 1994 the female was queen and sovereign of a huge paddock of extensive wetlands and beautiful valleys, arriving just in time for the official opening of the park.
Shortly after her arrival at the park, Áayin developed an even calmer personality than she had shown before: the lack of competition from his brothers and the comfort of her extensive paddock made her personality express itself fully, to the point that her caretakers joked that Áayin did absolute justice to her name of "crocodile"
The Spinosaurus spent most of her time leisurely swimming between in the wetland and sunning herself in the valley, where she could stay for hours with her eyes closed and mouth open, letting local birds come and bite her gigantic teeth freely. When it was time to eat, the caretakers would release fish into the wetlands for Áayin to entertain herself by catching them, an activity that the female did with patience during the day. Although she ate calmly, the Spinosaurus could gobble up several tons of fish a day with absolute ease.
Contrary to what geneticists had believed, Áayin had not reached its maximum size in 1994 and continued to grow to the amazement of all. However, it was not until 1997 that the female reached her full size, displaying beautiful colors and a spine decorated with wonderful bright tones, indicative that she had finally reached maturity.
Many could not believe that the female was so huge, to the point that she appeared to be longer and heavier than the T-Rex in the park. But because the female was easy to measure while at rest, she was able to set a record for her as the largest theropod dinosaur of all, at 21 meters long and weighing approximately 30 tons.
And although Áayin is not the most popular attraction in Jurassic Park (that place belongs to Rexy), she is still very loved by children and adults, who love the fact that it looks like a gigantic finned crocodile, in addition to her personality and way of being reinforcing that vision. Áayin even is well stuffed and thick like adult crocodiles. So much is the similarity that the tour and her gallery are called "Aayin the queen of crocodiles" where the guides explain the origin of her species and show the public how the Spinosaurus fishes, lives and develops in her environment.
It is not only her tourists who love her, but her caregivers and veterinarians, who can even approach her and touch her when she warms her dorsal fin in the direction of the sun. Her trust with people is such that part of the show is about bringing fish right up to her nose and showing tourists the strength of her jaws, which are as epic as a modern crocodile bite.
Oh, and she can roar too! She is able to emit a roar as loud as that of the Spino from Jurassic Park 3. Although she does it very rarely and only when she is particularly happy, especially on days where she sunbathes after a downpour.
Some bio geneticists, including Dr. Laura Sorkin, attribute Áayin's particular personality to the crocodile genes that were used during the sequences, which although they were in very low numbers, can considerably determine the personality of an individual. That also explains her body shape, where you can see the influence of the Baryonyx and Suchomimus genes in her more classic bipedal posture.
Coming to the end of her story we can say that Áayin is a quite beautiful Spinosaurus with a soft personality, like a gentle giant, but without ceasing to be imposing and powerful like any good theropod. Shen is one of the most beloved inhabitants of Jurassic Park.
And for those who wonder what Clerián is doing there: he is one of the vets who cares for the huge dinosaur and is in fact one of the people that Áayin trusts the most. Clerian even saw Áayin being born when he visited Isla Sorna in 1989 when he was just a 10-year-old boy who accompanied his father in his work as a veterinarian.
I hope to draw more of Áayin in the future as she is quite the beauty~

It becomes quite impressive when you compare both drawings ehehe, Clerian and the Jeep look microscopic compared to the huge spinosaurus.
I'm really grateful for you words of appreciation, thank you so much! it's always nice to know that my followers love my art and value it a lot.
