Morning settled over the city and with the rooster call the shift in the night watch ended for the Frisian stallion....
Soon the smells of fresh bread and herbs from the market stalls mingled with the scent of the night rain and with a view from the city wall over the slowly filling marked, Steppenfire looked forward to his cot and the approaching sleep....
An apple for breakfast... or bedtime snack....
For the next few hours, the security of the city gates was in the hands of his comrades.
