Just like in the previous one the relationship between Kion and Fuli is the main focus, in this one they take the next step to make their romance official to Kion's parents, and then finally tie the knot.
Lion Guard belongs to Disney.
As a familiar sunrise was coming up from the savannah and all over Pride Rock, the Lion King & Queen Simba and Nala was both waking up and walking out onto the massive cliff piece.
While enjoying the view Simba did notice a somewhat sadden look upon the eyes of his wife, and asked her on how she was doing.
"It's Kion, dear." Nala replied. "I know he and his friends can handle the journey to the tree of life, but I just wish I could get to see him soon again."
"That scar of his..." She went on. "When I saw him with it, and the pains that snake venom was giving him...it almost felt like your old uncle was still trying to get to him even from beyond the grave!"
Simba let out a small sigh over relating all to well over what his wife was feeling, telling her "Kiara also asked me just yesterday if her brother would ever return, and I almost started to become doubtful myself. All we can do is to prey that the lions in the sky is watching over them, and keeping sure they get a safe journey."
Right then as if on queue they heard a voice calling "Sire! Sire!", and they both saw the blue hornbill Zazu come flapping his wings as fast as possible towards them!
"What's the matter, Zazu? Has something terrible happen?!" Simba asked worryingly.
"N-No! Quite the opposite, actually!" Zazu reassured them as he came to land right by their feet to catch his breath. "It is your son, and his companions. They have returned!"
"What?!" Both Simba and Nala asked out in great surprise, before then getting Kiara and Kovu to come with them, and then all rushing off to meet with their long lost son over at the Pride Lands border.
Indeed, returning back after being gone for months was Kion and the rest of the Lion Guards, along with also Rani and Azaad. (The female lion leader of the pack at the tree of life, and the male cheetah with whom she had formed a relationship with.)
Seeing their boy return to them once more almost made both Simba and Nala wonder if this was just a dream, but upon seeing him smile when seeing them both they knew it was just as big of a moment for him as it was for them.
Despite them all trying to keep up their appearance as respectful royals, their true family feelings soon took over as Kion broke free from his group to ran as fast as possible into the arms of his parents and sister, who also did the same as they all came running towards each other.
It was a pretty sweet family reunion all around, as they all were wondering just how feel Kion's head was doing, and if he still had any traces left of his scar?
Looking almost a bit ashamed Kion let them see that he still did indeed carry two small fleshy pink lines on top of his eye, and one right underneath it. (Being clear that this was something he was just going to keep having for the rest of his life.)
"We did make it to the tree of life, and I got the treatment needed to help clear my head." Kion told his family, hoping they wouldn't make his physical appearance have them forget who he really was.
Much to his relief he was being given nothing but endless love by his parents and sister, all saying that they had never doubted he was going to change, and that they all could now call this curse of Scar to be gone once and for all.
But this wasn't the only kind of news that young Kion had to share with his parents, as he asked if he could take that with them in more "private" terms.
Understanding his request, Simba and Nala returned back on top of Pride Rocks, where the two older lions gathered to listen to what the younger one had to say.
"After I got myself healed at the tree of life I ended up being given an offer by Rani, the Queen of the Night Pride, to become her...king." Kion told his parents, who got both pretty surprised and also curious on what then happened.
"So, my son. What was your response?" Simba asked Kion, as he clearly wasn't feeling so sure if his parents was going to like what he would be saying next.
"I told her that I felt really honoured, and that she's an amazing and strong queen...but my heart was already belonging to someone else." Kion confessed, making both his parents yet again very surprised and slightly confused over his choice.
There was then a bit of an awkward silence as Nala finally asked him, "So, who is it that you feel your heart belongs to then?"
Looking them both in the eyes Kion felt this was probably the hardest thing for him to say yet, but after mustering enough courage he finally uttered "Fuli."
"You mean the cheetah girl who is part of your Lion Guard gang?" Simba asked surprised, as Nala instead was wondering "Have you been telling her about how you're feeling about her?"
"I have, and she says that she has been feeling the same way. We are engaged, and I was hoping by getting both of yours blessings we could also be married." Kion requested, as he couldn't help but feel extra nervous when asking his parents about it. (Would they even allow it?)
Kion's parents had a good look at each other, smiled, and then Simba looked back at him and asked "Is Fuli perhaps nearby right now?"
Before Kion had a chance to answer he could hear a soft spoken "I am." from behind, as Fuli had indeed been peeking in from just outside the cave, and now made herself known as she walked up right next to Kion.
"Is it true that you really are in love with our boy?" Nala asked Fuli, who quickly replied, "Yes! And I would do anything in my powers to protect his life!"
"It's true. On more then one occasion on the journey she not only kept the group safe, but also helped me from completely losing my mind when the pains from the scar was getting at their worst." Kion added, making Fuli smile over knowing that she really did have his back also.
"Kion has also helped me open up more to my emotions also. Before I would often be very quiet and focus on running my own races, but now I want nothing more then to be having him running next to me along the way." Fuli replied, as the look in her eyes really did tell she was a lot more open about her feelings for others. (And especially for him.)
"Sounds like you both really are made for each other." Nala said very touched, as Simba couldn't help but to be a bit teasing as he mentioned "I did get a feeling you two often seemed to be hanging out all by yourself a lot"
This made both Kion and Fuli blush heavily, as Kion even let out an small "Dad, shut up!" over his father embarrassing him in front of his girl.
"I'm just messing with you, young one." Simba said with a soft laughter, as even Nala had to admit seeing their son suddenly act like his real age there was pretty funny.
"I was raised that the Lion Guard could only exist as just lions, but you showed that diversity is always an option. You have also managed to handle the roar masterfully at such a young age, and even having the elders always being there to help you in times of needs." Simba said to Kion very proudly, before concluding "I don't see any problems with you making this brave cheetah girl to your bride."
"You also have my blessing, as I hope your marriage will mark a great moment for history to come." Nala added, as both Kion and Fuli couldn't believe this was finally happening.
They were to become fully married soon enough!
But Kion and Fuli wasn't the only big change to have happened, since while gone on their journey quite a few things had happen in Pride Rocks as well.
Some time after the Lion Guard left their home, an invasion happen upon Pride Rocks, and it was orchestrated by a pack of lions of all things!
The Outlanders was a group of outcasts who under the lead of the lioness Zira, who swore to regain the power and leadership that used to rule under the regime of Scar.
Even more so was the fact that her son Kovu had ended up falling in love with Kiara, and the two had started a bit of a "forbidden relationship" with each other, while their parents on both sides was very determined to tear the other one apart!
In the end two very big lives was lost on the Outlands part.
Zira, who got swept away (and presumingly drowned) in a wild river.
And Nuka, Zira's other son, who ended up crushed to death underneath a pile of logs when at one point trying to assassinate Simba.
In the end after losing two of their most blood thirsty members, the rest of the Outlanders decides to admit defeat towards the Pride Landers, as the two sides finally agrees to become one larger pack.
As a result of that Kovu and Kiara decides on getting together for real, making him the new prince among the Pride Lands as Kiara's husband.
Not only that, but in the absence of Kion and the gang, Kovu's sister Vitani decided to step up as the new Lion Guard leader of the Pride Lands. (Along with a very fierce group of all Lionesses backing her up as her guard.)
Upon hearing the news Fuli got a bit worried, since she knew how much being the Lion Guard leader has mean for Kion throughout the years, and feared that he might snap back into those "Mood Swings" that he used to get while suffering from the scar.
But to her surprise Kion did not try to challenge Vitani on the role as leader over the Lion Guard, but actually asked her if she was fully sure she feel ready to handle it all.
Giving a pretty confident smile back to him Vitani tells him, "I've already been doing this for a couple of months, while waiting on you to come back. If I haven't grown into the role now, then may a lighting strike me down now."
The sky was currently being completely cloudless, so Kion didn't have any sort of doubt that she knew what she was talking about, as he could see the same type of fire in the eyes of Vitani as from when he got started himself a couple of years ago.
"I can tell the Pride Lands will be in good paws being guarded by the likes of you." Kion said proudly, as he then wandered back to Fuli, who was still looking pretty confused over why he was acting so laidback about Vitani taking over his role?
Looking him deep into the eyes Fuli asked her beloved lion, "Are you feeling alright, Kion? You told me how you wanted nothing more then to return to your job at protecting you home, once being cured of the scar."
"I did, Fuli." Kion responded. "But during my journey towards the Tree of Life I can to find the travelling almost more enjoyable, then the actual goal. If it hadn't been for the constant head pains I would have gladly taken my time taking in all the different kinds of sceneries we got to see. The snowy mountains, the swamps, the sea!"
"What are you getting at, Kion?" Fuli asked a bit confused, as her soon to be husband looked back at her and asked, "What would you say if we just went on another wide travel, just you and me? Fully exploring just how big and vast the world really is?"
Fuli at first couldn't really believe what she was hearing Kion asked for, but knowing that it would mean spending a lot of time just with the one she loved so much she immediately said "Yes! That sounds like a lovely time!"
But they didn't get to enjoy their little planning for much longer, as Zazu suddenly came flying in and told the group "Lion Guards! There is an emergency happening at the eastern savannah!"
Instructively Vitani and her Lionesses started making a run towards the area, as Kion and his gang also decided to tag along in case they would be needing as much strength as possible.
Once reaching the spot it was something that both the old and new guards had become all to familiar with.
"Uhm...Hello? Is there anyone out there to help me out?" A very muffled voice asked, as they could all see a fully striped body with it's head stuck inside a hole in the ground.
"Seriously?! This guy again?!" A clearly fed up Vitani asked herself, as Kion and his friends could just roll their eyes over how some things truly never changes around here.
Gathering all around the stuck zebra, the group of Lionesses all pushed hard, and with an loud "PLOP!" like sound the head of Thurston was finally freed.
"Hoorah! I've been saved by the ever so brave Lion Guard!" The zebra celebrated, as Vitani just tried to keep a good face and ask him "But why were you even having you head stuck in the grounds to begin with?"
"I've seen those Ostriches doing the very same thing, and I simply had to find out why they would be doing such a thing! So once they left I tried to stick my head into one of the holes they made...and then I could get myself back out again on my own!" Thurston explained, making the whole group face palming over how dumb some of the animals running around at this place could be.
"For real, how often is it that you guys have to do petty tasks like this on a daily basic?" Vitani asked Kion, who just let out a big sigh and told her "Believe me, you don't want to know.", as this was at least one part of being the leader for the Lion Guards that he wasn't going to miss that much.
With the sun setting down over the Pride Lands, a couple of very important ceremonies where due to take place.
The first one was very small and personal (but never the less very important), as Kion and his group of former guards was meeting with Vitani and her current guard behind Pride Rocks.
"Vitani. When I first heard you had been taking over the role as leader of the Lion Guard, I was very surprised, and a little bit upset over the news. But having seen you in action I can tell you are someone who has been taking this very seriously, and that made me very proud. I feel that the roar and the Pride Lands will be in safe paws with you, and will hereby offer up my powers to you." Kion said before then landing a paw onto her shoulder, creating a flash as the mark of the Lion Guard was now printed over it.
Soon a whole series of flashes started to happen, as all of Kion's friends where losing their marks, as Vitani's fellow lionesses got them instead.
"You are from now on the new Lion Guards of the Pride Lands, and as such carrying on the responsibility for every creature living here to get a chance at a free and fair life. I know both you and your girls are going to handle this with the greatest of care." Kion told Vitani, as she in return expressed how grateful both she and her fellow lionesses was on having the young prince believing in them all.
Once that was over with both Kion and Fuli knew there was still another kind of ceremony they needed to attend, and that one would be a lot more public.
Wandering up onto the top of Pride Rocks the two engaged lovers saw Rafiki waiting on them, as he was to help marry the two.
Not only that, but words about their soon to be marriage had been spreading far and vast over the land, as when they reached the top of the rocks the two saw a massive amount of animals having gathered to witness their wedding. (Being on par when a newborn cub airing to the throne was being born.)
While Kion was pretty used to this sort of treatment, it was quite the shock for Fuli, who started to feel quite nervous being exposed to this sort of level by everyone.
"Not getting cold feet now, are you?" Kion teased at her. "I never thought I would see the bravest and fastest cheetah in all of the world to start showing fear like this."
"Easy for you to say, who was trained to handle crowds like this since you were a newborn." Fuli said back, which Kion did have to admit was a pretty fair point.
Nevertheless she tried to keep a big (if somewhat forced) smile upon her face, as she and Kion stood in front of Rafiki to conduct the ceremony.
The old Mandrill had been doing these royal weddings a few times now in his life, so it was nothing strange as he started the process of mixing powders and fluids to help create a sort of "paint" like substance.
He then stuck one of his fingers into his paint bowl, and started applying it onto the foreheads of both Kion and Fuli, while rambling in a sort of "ancient language".
Once finished he had created what was basically looking like random lines formed onto both of their heads, but when having them being pressed right next to each other it showed them having the drawing of a heart across them both.
"You are both hereby declared husband and wife!" Rafiki announced to the animal mass, who all started to howl, bark, chirp, and all other kinds of animal noises to show their combined joy over the newfound marriage.
For Kion and Fuli this would for sure be a memory that would stick with them for the rest of their lives, as they shared a kiss together to really fulfil the moment together.
Once the ceremony was all over there was really no reason for the two newly wed to keep dragging this out any longer, since they both knew crossing a nearby desert would be best done during night time.
But before they could leave they still had to say goodbye to all of their friends, who either was going to stay in the Pride Lands, or be on their own journey to return back to the Tree of Life.
Among those was their fellow Lion Guard members, as well as trusted Hyena allies Jasiri and Janja.
Bunga: "I guess I go first, since I always is the one to dive headfirst without much of a plan. I really never planned on what I was going to say, since I always assumed we would all stay together for like, forever. Still, I always knew both you and Fuli had something going on, and I can only imagine how many awesome adventures you two will be up against on your journey. Zuka-Zama!"
Beshte: "Man, I never thought I would have to be at a moment like this. Seeing two of my greatest friends leaving together, while I stay back. You two have always been my greatest motivations for pushing further and harder each day, and some that I've seen as my biggest inspirations in becoming as good of a protector as possible. Have a wonderful time together!"
Ono: "Well, I guess this was very unavoidable in the long run of things. It's just that while I often am able to plan things out when looking at the whole picture, I'm pretty stumped on what to say or do next. Seeing two of my closest friends leaving together like this is both very touching, and also a bit scary. But I also know that having been part of your group has made me so much braver then what I was when it all started. My eyes has witnessed more things then most other birds would, and still I know it will be nothing compared to what you both will see when you are out travelling! I'll be watching the stars to follow on your many journeys."
Jasiri: "Ever since the first time seeing you I knew you where quite the boy that all girls would try to make their catch, and it's clear Fuli had that very same thought in mind. Unlike many others you saw past the fact that we were hyenas, and saw us as your equals instead. Both me and Janja can't thank you both and the rest of the guard enough for what help you have brought, and how we will forever remember your kindness and heroic actions."
Then there was also Rani and Azaad who also wanted to say their goodbyes, before they would be returning back to the Tree of Life.
"Kion, I must admit this does feel a little awkward." Rani confessed. "After you rejected me and said your heart was really with Fuli, it really did break my own heart for a short time. But I realized also that I was trying a bit to hard in asking for a lot, when we had barley getting to know each other. Seeing how much you and Fuli really love each other it's pretty clear to me now that she is the one and only for your heart. Plus, it was also thanks to you that I ended up finding my own cheetah partner in the form of Azaad. Thank you both for all the help you and your friends did for the Tree of Life, and I wish you the most safe of travels."
"I've never been much of a speaker myself, but I do want to tell you Kion that you are quite the lucky guy who ended up getting such a wild girl like Fuli on your side." Azaad told the lion Prince, before then looking over at the cheetah girl. "Fuli. When I first met you I could already tell that you were without a doubt one of the fastest running cheetahs of all time, and I wanted nothing more then to become your running partner. I was pretty surprised seeing you reject me, but that also told me just what a self strong woman you really were. I've seen just how fast you can run when you really want to, and I want you to keep pressing yourself. Run faster then any cheetah has ever run before! Promise me that."
"I will." Fuli said back, as Kion wished for Rani that she would keep trying to be the greatest Queen that she could be at the Tree of Life.
Once they had all said their goodbyes Kion and Fuli took one good look at each other, before then both taking off as fast as they could, and starting to run straight towards the sunset on their new adventures.
Watching them both from the top of Pride Rocks, the current King and Queen looked very pleased to see their "little boy" now fully grown up and going on his very own journey.
"I wonder if we will ever get to see them both again?" Nala asked Simba, who just smiled and said back to his girl, "I think we will. But hopefully not for a very long time, cause then there will be plenty of exciting stories for the two to share with us upon their return."

Thurston explained, making the whole group face palming over how dumb some of the animals running around at this place could be.
