They're characters from a 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons game.

The Lady Aurora Sunmane is a unicorn noble (but really, what kind of unicorn isn't noble?) who is out "slumming it" in the Midlands, the lands of the folks with two legs. She uh, might be a little bit sheltered shall we say.

She encountered Camille early on while travelling and hired her as a bodyguard for what was actually a rather comically small amount of money (enough for like, four days of pay) but Camille found her new friend amusing to be around and funny to watch as she kept sticking her hoof in her mouth (so to speak), such as walking into a rather nice tavern and demanding their "most vile swill" like it was some sort of dive bar. Camille is the more "traditionally competent" of the two, shall we say, having been educated at a highfaluten magic academy that caters to the children of nobles and rich merchants and having some actual combat experience, while Aurora's response to questions about her competence are more along the lines of "I learned magic in school as well, I am quite certain I can handle myself. I am a unicorn, after all."

A paladin in need of some help bringing some healing potions safely up to a nearby town (Nuala, this lady here -> https://www.furaffinity.net/view/36255927/ ) ended up recruiting Camille to help her, and Aurora ended up going along because clearly, heading up into the mountains would be a fun adventure. Of course, it probably helped that a certain handsome gryphon (Clive, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/36334344/) was also heading up there with them, and Aurora ended up rather rapidly developing a crush on him, which I'm sure was a totally great decision and definitely wasn't her making bad life choices, no sir~

Naturally, trouble happened, and her vacation has turned into an adventure, which seemed like a lot of fun at first but has involved a great deal of poor Aurora getting tossed around by baddies for some reason. She's a glutton for punishment or something. Or maybe she should should have gone for higher AC. Who knew that a magic peytral wasn't going to be enough armor? :P

Mechanically, Aurora is a unicorn trained in healing magic, AKA a reflavored Cleric - as, really, who could have more holy and healing magic than a unicorn? Ironically, she's actually an atheist, and denies that the gods are "real" gods, instead seeing them as powerful spirits - a common sentiment amongst unicorns in her world, who also totally coincidentally invented lightning rods as well for some reason. She is reflavored as Charisma being her primary caster stat, because the idea of a "cleric" who dumped wisdom is amusing.

Camille is a Swordmage, a magic wielding warrior who uses sword attacks infused with magic and shields her companions with magic even as she teleports around the battlefield to attack enemies. She can put a magic mark on her enemies that allows her to teleport over and stab them if they attack someone other than her, which combines rather nicely with her other teleportation abilities, which allow her to teleport away from said marked enemies and thus put them in a situation where they either have to chase after her and get stabbed by her companions or fight someone they can actually reach and get stabbed by her.
