Emphasis on “little”.
If you can believe it, behind that fully-capable, loaf-slaying smeargloid form lies a happy little puppyman who’s excited to be around friends for the holidays. Seeing as Mike and his trainer are good friends of his and haven’t seen him in a while, it’s clearly the best call to invite him and his friends to a Christmas party! This was done last year when he had nowhere to go while his trainer went to visit family, but this year on Christmas Eve, Mike’s trainer has given him an invitation to come alone and relax for one night before the festivities.
And upon said night, the household’s Christmas gift to the little guy was given, albeit a day early: a little elf costume! It was a merry occasion indeed, with the dog’s eyes widening and him asking to try it on. He slipped into the custom-tailored dorksuit with ease and Mike joined him with his own loose holiday attire, adding a Santa robe and hat to the slippers he already had on. Baked goods were delivered, and all was jolly. Decorations were scarce, but assembled passionately, including the Christmas tree. And yet, one thing was missing. Atop the tree should be a star. So, handing the star to the little elf, Mike raised him up high and saw it placed for the rest of the house to see. And, naturally, their festive helper was given copious hugs.
The star is the most important part of the tree, you know. It’s the peak of the tree, which is composed of all the holiday cheer accumulated around the tree with ornaments. So the chance to top off the tree - at least in that house - is a gesture of great closeness. And as silly as the outfits might be, that too embodies the spirit of merriment and friendship - family, even. So, from their household to yours, wherever you are, no matter what you celebrate (even if it’s nothing)…
Merry Christmas to you, and a Happy New Year.
