A coat worthy of a king
It is winter, and like every year, it has brought torrential rains, snow and cold days covered in fog. It is also the time when swallows migrate in search of warmer lands where they will spend the next few months.
But this year one of them has been left behind and it is a very special swallow, because under that dense warm plumage, inhabits the soul of a blue dragon.
That blue dragon is Breise and this is the first time he's been completely covered in feathers from nose to tail. Breise usually has feathers on his back and other parts of his body, but this is the first year he has developed a blanket of feathers as dense and soft as this one.
The blue dragon is native to the Valley of Mexico and was never completely used to the cold and snow of the southern lands of the world. But after 10 years living with his partner in the cold forest, the essence of these lands has given him a warm gift in the form of a blanket of feathers. It curiously closely resembles the plumage of swallows, birds with which Breise has a close cooperative relationship.
This gift could be considered a definitive way to welcome the dragon to the cold forest. It is similar to the coronation of a king, which also involves elegant and stately clothing. Now Breise can take pleasure in these lands.
His plumage is now dense and soft, easily keeping him warm and protected from even the heaviest snow and rain. Gone are the days when Breise relied on being under his mate's wing for a warm night's sleep, now the great dragon is one with his surroundings. Although obviously he will continue to sleep with his partner, but now for fun and love and it will not only be out of necessity.
Breise is now a very fluffy dragon. And while the swallows migrate, the blue dragon feels the breeze move his feathers but never freeze his skin. It's wonderful to be fluffy and warm.
By spring time, Breise will cast off his blanket of feathers and once again show off the sapphire scales that definitely make him a deep blue dragon. And when the cold returns once again, so will his warm feather blanket.
