Now this is a picture I’d been meaning to do for ages! I always liked Morgana; he’s adorable, a literal cat burglar, and a great partner! Sadly, much as I love the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, I’ve never gotten to play Persona 5; I don’t own a Playstation anything, and even if I had the money, I’ve got too much of a beef with the lack of backwards compatibility. (Still hoping Persona 5 comes out for Switch and/or PC one day. Bloodborne would be nice too…)
I still can’t believe how little there is of Morgana hypnotized. Hopefully this is the start of that changing!
Morgana smirked as Joker settled into slumber. Now that Joker had gone to bed, it was the perfect time for some late-night training!
Makoto joining had been incredibly helpful; between strategy and combat versatility, she was rapidly proving herself a godsend. But as happy as Morgana was that requests and Mementos exploration were going smoother than ever, he was starting to feel like the Phantom Thieves were finding less use for him. It was silly, he knew; even if she was superior at strategy, no one could replace him as navigator! Still, with everyone awaiting Kaneshiro’s change of heart, and nothing pressing on the agenda, it couldn’t hurt to sharpen his skills. He’d be their coolest combatant besides Joker!
The cat burglar cracked open the attic window, and climbed down the side of Café Leblanc.
Morgana hopped about happily as the last Shadow fell. It was almost scary how good he was! His efforts had paid off; Zorro had gotten a new skill! He was almost ready to call it a night; just one more floor and-
Morgana yelped, whirling around as something cold and scaly tapped his shoulder. Behind him was a surprisingly normal-looking snake; no human features or extra heads.
Ironically, that actually made it stand out even more in a place like Mementos.
Much to Morgana’s surprise, the snake began to speak; his name was Kaa, and he was wondering if Morgana knew of a way out. He’d been lost in here for what felt like days, with no exit in sight.
….
Morgana had so many questions. Since when could snakes speak English? Was he from here? If not, how did he get into Mementos? Was he another transformed human?
Kaa blinked in confusion. He’d been a snake all his life, and was it really so surprising that he could speak human languages? Morgana was a cat, and he was speaking just fine.
HE WAS NOT A CAT! He was just stuck like this temporarily, and that still didn’t answer how Kaa got here!
Kaa wasn’t sure himself. All he knew was that he had been slithering down an alley, caught a glimpse of Morgana and a group of human teenagers looking at a phone, and the next thing he knew, he was here, trying to stay out of sight from the costumed people summoning strange creatures to fight even stranger creatures with spells and bullets.
…Oops.
Morgana apologized; the Meta Nav – the thing he and his friends used to get here – had a bad tendency to accidentally drag bystanders in. He had no idea it could do that with animals too. He’d get Kaa out.
Kaa thanked him; he’d been worried he’d be stuck in here forever!
Morgana assured Kaa it was no problem. Honestly, he was amazed Kaa had lasted this long with the Shadows everywhere.
Kaa smirked. Oh, that had been no trouble at all. He had a trick to shoo away any Shadow.
Morgana’s ears perked up. A trick? What was it?
Kaa chuckled. He’d be more than happy to show Morgana. But first, he’d need to be sure he could trust him with it; a magician never revealed his secrets, but if Morgana was trustworthy, he could make an exception. Just look him in the eye and swear not to tell!
Morgana thought for a moment. If this was a trap, he’d be able to escape it; he hadn’t packed a Goho-M and a Smokescreen for nothing. And the inexplicable ability to drive away Shadows would be amazing! He might even be able to impress Lady Ann…
All right! He promised-
Morgana’s eyes grew wide as Kaa’s lit up with colors. Spiral after beautiful, shining spiral sent shivers down his spine, not quite like a Treasure, but filling his thoughts with blissful warmth all the same. Whatever the snake was doing, he never wanted it to stop; he’d never felt this good in his life! Kaa beckoned him closer, and Morgana obeyed, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks as coils wrapped around him. A closer look at the colors further captivated the kitty, a thin line of drool trailing from his open mouth. Kaa’s tail scratched under his chin, and Morgana let out a purr, a faint blush on his cheeks.
Kaa chuckled; didn’t it feel nice, just relaxing and enjoying being a kitty?
Morgana struggled to come up with a response, his thoughts sinking under a sea of colors. He wasn’t a cat…
Was being a cat really such a bad thing? Kaa asked. He'd be cuddled and cared for, loved and protected, free to sit back and relax.
Morgana gave a goofy smile. That sounded amazing…
Kaa agreed. He wouldn’t have a thing to worry about! There was no need to trouble himself thinking when he had his master to handle it for him. He could just focus on being a cute, cuddly pet, ready to obey and serve his master’s every need, and his master would love him in turn.
Morgana’s eyes whirled with colors, the cat purring as the snake’s coils caressed him. He’d… He’d obey! He’d be a good kitty! Master loved him, and he loved Master!
The snake’s tail tugged, and with a gulp and a PING!, Morgana broke into the biggest, silliest grin that had ever crossed his face.
Kaa smiled as he pet his kitty, Morgana affectionately rubbing his head against Kaa’s tail. The cat burglar had gone down faster than he expected, not that he was complaining. Maybe his eyes shone like whatever treasure Morgana was after? He might have to ask when he decided to make some tweaks.
He didn’t get why Morgana had such an issue with being a cat; he was adorable and attractive! In the days he’d been stuck here, watching the kitty try to be cool had easily been the best part. (Admittedly, between wandering aimlessly and either driving off or eating the foul-tasting creatures around here, there wasn’t much competition.)
When he let Morgana go (and he would at some point, he had no desire to deal with almost a half-dozen heavily armed spellcasters), he would wake happy, dazed, and more accepting of being a cat. He might not remember much of their time together, but he’d remember his master’s love, and seek him out when he had the chance.
And when he did, they’d be having more of the fun they were going to have tonight.
Kaa slithered over to Morgana, and gave him a kiss. His pet meowed happily, returning his affections with a blush.
Morgana might not be able to be his master’s mate, but he could still be his master’s date.
