Today we are looking at the Buzzing Blood Barb. They're quite small for dragon standards, only being roughly 2 m from head to tip, however, these dragons are rarely bothered or hunted by other, larger creatures due to their colouration being a warning signal to predators to keep away. These creatures are extremely agile in the air, and can fly in all cardinal directions in the same way a hummingbird can, which aids the creatures in combat, as well as maneuvering through their forest homes, though thankfully for this species, they do not face the same metabolic issues that hummingbirds do.
If threatened, their first instinct is to puncture it's attacker with their durable stinger. It's pointed and curved shape allows it to more easily get under a predator's scales (or armour in the case of sentients) and administer an extremely deadly hemotoxin that's strong enough to kill up to medium sized dragons with only a few stings, and ground those in the larger weight classes.
Thankfully for most creatures, these dragons are entirely herbivorous and quite docile unless threatened. They mainly feed off of the nectar of the various giant plant species in the area, though in a pinch, they will consume fruits and other soft fleshed foods to make up for their lack of nectar.
Buzzing Blood Barbs are common throughout the world, and are only one of several Buzzing Barb species, with other notable species including: The Buzzing Necro Barb; The Buzzing Stone Barb; and The Buzzing Mind Barb.
