OKAY! Wow, where do I even begin with this? So this track is heavily inspired by Castlevania, as a lot of my songs are.
What's not apparent, however, is the sheer amount of time and effort it took to make this. The melody which opens the song is one I've had in my head for a few years now. Two years ago I began production on this song. Originally I tried having the song be completely rock/metal -- but due to me not really having the right instruments, I couldn't get that to work. Another approach I took was for it to be completely jazz, and with the way it was progressing it sounded a lot like gypsy jazz and Django Reinhardt.
That wasn't a bad sound overall, but for some reason or another I couldn't work up the volition to continue it. I think trying to use VSTs to emulate the sound of guitar strumming was really running me down, lol.
Then about a year ago, I tried playing the melody on violin (it's not a real violin! It's actually the Joshua Bell violin from Embertone), and instantly I was in love. But this coincided with me getting a new job, and most of the time I found myself either too busy or burnt out on work to really pay much attention to my music. Still, I'd find time here and there to work on it, and lately I've had a lot more time off of work, which has allowed me to get back into my music again.
I ended up letting a jazzy guitar take the place of the violin, moving the violin ahead a few bars to accent certain phrases along with various synths. In addition to those instruments, there's a piano, a clavichord, a fretless bass, drums, two saxophones, a trumpet, LOTS of strings, and a pipe organ! Ultimately I think this was the right combination of instruments, and it really hits that sweet spot for me of that Michiru Yamane SOTN sound.
After everything, it's such a relief to finally have this song completed, and I'm really happy with it. I hope you'll enjoy it too.
Also, if you really like my music, please do consider supporting me on either Patreon or Ko-fi using the links above. A lot of time goes into my music, and every bit helps. I'm also open for commissions, so if you wanted a song for your 'sona, I'd be happy to oblige!
Cheers :D

Also, i've been thinking about sharing two songs that came to mind since i listened to yours, I think you will enjoy them if they are unknown to you, Makazi.
Ys VI - Reconciled People I love the full soundtrack from YS VI, but that song is beautiful by itself haha.
And Romancing Saga Minstrel Song OST - Passionate Rhythm
