“Now I’m trusting you with this. She’s been rather melancholy for the past few days,” he says, grabbing out Maria’s ball and tossing it to go ahead and let her out.

“Yeah, I know,” I respond. “Frustration can be a really annoying thing. She’s likely feeling like she’s run into a wall and can’t seem to figure out how to get past it. But I have a few ideas on that. We’ll see how things turn out. Anything on the menu?” I ask, curious as to what was already planned.

“Nothing as such. Take the card and do as you see fit. But I want my body back in the morning.”

I mentally nod at him. As I wait to be given control over this body we share again I have to somewhat wonder whether or not it is a matter of him starting to trust me or just how serious things have gotten that this time there is not even any pretense of her being there to protect his body. This time I’m the one that’s here for her, to take care of her and he’s treating me like I’m a friend Maria badly needs, rather than her escort.
