Fulgeo watches as his friend limps into their home, his face mixed with annoyance and pain. The job they were on gone south; the guards, even Nordy knew going through the BloodHeart Forest. But the client wanted the fastest route, and now most are dead. The few that survive the onslaught of the mad mage fell victim to the werewolves and wildlife soon after.
Nordy groaning as he sits down at his desk, pulling out books and notes. Fulgeo slowly approaches as he hear Nordy sigh, frustrated. More than likely thinking how he or some of the guard could have tried harder to persuade the client to change their mind, to avoided the needless death. Thankfully Nordy policy is half pay upfront, so it wasn't a total loss. Fulgeo can see books on fighting techniques and bestiaries that he's gone over a thousand time, him pulling out his own journal jotting down more notes. Fulgeo knew where this was going, he does this every time, Nordy is going push himself; find new ideas and strategies for the situation. Unnecessary and going to overwork himself for something that was beyond his or anyone's control.
He wasn't going to let his friend overdo it again. Not this time, quickly jumping on the desk paws blocking the books and stares down his friend. Nordy sighs, a bit surprised by this action. "Bud.... I'm just finding ways so we don't fall into some like that again." Nordy reinsures. Fulgeo staring him down saying his thought directly into his friends mind. His face frowning. "We barely go out with our lives bud! I'm just trying....."
Fulgeo continues his argument, Nordy expression shifting and changing, looking like he's losing the argument. A few minutes of silence and then a defeated sigh. "No.... you're right," Nordy says in defeat, "In hindsight, we did get out of their alive and it could have been MUCH worse." He looks at what he jotted down, and starts chuckling.
"Lost God's return. Look at that, I really thought I had something Haha!" Nordy slowly stands walking towards his living room where he goes to the armchair in the corner right by the fire; the kobolds having already stoked the flames for their return. He sits down letting out a tired groan, it's been a long day, he rests on his hand as he relaxes for once. Fulgeo leaping onto his lap, curing snuggly. Nordy smiles as he rest his hand on his friend. "I really gotten a bad habit of doing this don't I?" He says jokingly, "Thanks bud for making me see that." Soon both drift off to sleep, both getting a well deserved rest after that long day.
A big thank you to
Paradoxe for drawing Nordy and Fulgeo. I loved how this came out!
