I've always felt Raptors like this fellow could make for a great race and build a remarkable civilization with just one tweak - opposable thumbs. Give them those and there's no stopping them! I'd love to see what adaptions a race with this body type but full creativity and dexterity could accomplish.
Coffee of course is a must.

I debated giving her opposable thumbs, but I thought it might be another fun thing for thier civilization to develp around so i could come up with creative ways for thier advancements, just like thier body types. I did give them a lot more flexibility overall, especiallyin thier arms and wrists. And a bit more vocal range and lip movement too so they have some advantages for civilization development over standard raptors,
She is technically not an earth raptor, more of a species from the far side of the universe who's ship got accidently wormholed to the opposite side. It's not alll bad, shes got the only FTL Capacle ship around, and everyone on earth is really nice once they get past the claws and teeth. Kind of hard to be worriedabout her invading when everyones kid wants to meet the real life dinosaur.
And yes...a trade route to bring coffee back to her home worlds will happen if she can figure out a way to get back and forth reliably.

Ah, what sort of adaptions have you pondered to get around the lack of opposable thumbs then? I confess that's one hardship I've not been able to sort out.
So she's the only raptor around at the moment? I do hope reliable travel back and forth can become a possibility for her and her kind. Any other dino species or is it just raptors?

It's mostly just ensuring things can be done with Gross motor skills, nothing fine. Raptors naturally have good grasping, and with her extra flexibility in their wrists/arms/shoulders, she can do a lot pretty easily. It's only when she is manipulating small objects, or slippery objects that she'll struggle, though her claws help a little in that regard. For example, she can use a zipper by hooking her claw in the pull tab and pulling that way, rather than grasping it between a thumb and a finger, but she can't pick up a coin. Culturally, it's still common to use her muzzle to do things that her hands/claws cant do after a few tries.
Just her species evolved further on her home world, other species of dino are primarily extinct, though a few herbivores and small carnivores are still around that are considered animals. Shay and her crew are the only ones in Earth's Sector.

Okay, that sounds workable there for flexibility and manipulation. Ease of working with tools seems important to a sentient race!
Unfortunate to hear so many other dinosaur species have gone extinct there too. I'd like to imagine them having domesticated a handful of non-sentient species just as we have.
