(FIRST COMIC) - The Dragoncaller, part 2.
It has been a while since i posted something for now, but this is what i was working on since like... january. I had the sketches of this, including all the storytelling information on a file since the year has started, and since i posted the "Dragoncaller" thing.
I wanted to express a feeling of mistery with also the sensation that she's "overpower", even if she is smaller than the dragon.
Talking about the dragon, i feel that i improved drawing these giant creatures, i really tried to put my head in and work on a design and on a form for the dragon that makes it dangerous and threatening, that makes you feel that she can never get the attention of this giant thing because she is smaller and apparently weaker than her. I also didn't made any dialogues because i wanted you to try to read what the image is telling you to feel.
About the color and composition, i tried to generate a feeling of peace, unthreatening environment on the first frame, using the white and blue gradient to form the sky, with her hand on the first plan to make you feel that she's going to make something, til' she really does.
The brutal transition to the first frame is followed by high-contrast and low saturated bluish colors, with the feeling that "something is coming"(her fist brutally closed also tells you that), the cromatic aberration just enphasizes that feeling of brutality, of a sudden change anywhere else, but you don't know what changed yet.
Then she appears, hooded on a black cloak with metallic adorns that somehow starts glowing along with the pin at her hood, that resembles the image of a dragon.
On the second frame, the perspective and the plan that she's inserted in shows her strange form, her curse and at the same time her beauty, it also shows that she is about to do something, walking with her bare feets towards somewhere that you can't see, and much less her intentions on walking to there.
Then we have the two cinematic frames. The one shows her bravery in confronting this giant dragon with a cloud-like texture, something that covers her entire field of view with a red "smokescreen", the dragon seems to be the most menacing thing that she can see on his life, but she don't let her fear come in, she goes on there and fights this dragon.
But when we think that the way that she overcomes this dragon is by killing it, she simply puts her cursed hand out on the dragon's snout, making he turns all his attention to her, also stopping to, somehow, admire her power, her courage and her beauty, letting she be his honoured owner. The untameable beast has been tamed.
