You are correct. For me, a lot of the story is about the idea of the pretender, or rather how a lot of us who deal with but cannot identify with what we keep being told is being normal.
Some of the thoughts and ideas presented in this comic were also based on an older six page work I made years back called "quiet" that describes the idea that the spotlight on stage is more like an open mouth full of teeth. It's absolutely exhausting seeing what is considered normal acting and thinking each and every day....absolutely exhausting.
